The house was built in 1788. It is the oldest recorded example of a 4
residential structure in Vigan.
This is also part of the ancestral house and birthplace of priest patriot 4
Fr. Jose Burgos. Known as Padre Burgos House.
Since it is part of Burgos Museum it is also one of the notable historic 4
structures of Vigan, the capital of the province of Ilocos Sur.
They said that the ground floor of the Burgos Museum is where the 4
bodega located long time ago.

Architectural and Contextual
The house stands as a prime example of the Filipino bahay-na-bato, a 4
two – story structure and is one of the historic buildings in the city. The
lower ground serve as the bodega and the upper floor serve as the
residential or the sleeping area
STATEMENT OF SIGNIFICANCE
Since it is also part of the Padre Burgos house and they’re located in same roof they
have the same architectural structure and features, built in 1786, is the oldest recorded
example of a brick and wood type residential structure built in Vigan. It features simple
architectural ornamentations, and details. It has the characteristic storing area with original
clay roof. It is part also the ancestral house and birthplace of priest patriot Fr. Jose Burgos.
Known as Padre Burgos House. Today, it is maintained by the National Museum and exhibits
ethnic and Ilocano Artifacts.
