HISTORY

FAR-INFRARED RADIATION

Far-infrared rays have existed since the beginning of time. They are essential to plant growth and, by extension,
to all organic matter. This said, infrared radiation was only discovered in the 1800’s.

William Hershel, a British Astronomer of German descent passed sunlight through a prism and held a mercury
thermometer to measure the temperature of from each colour of the visible spectrum.
Hershel noticed that the red as well as the invisible end of the spectrum showed higher temperatures. He
later concluded that an invisible form of light beyond the visible spectrum could transmit heat without
convection [hot air transfer] or conduction [propagation between solid bodies].

Between 1945 and 1947, the Japanese Government invested in research in order to identify the consequences
of the two atomic bombs (uranium and plutonium).

Results showed cell deformation and physical malformation on people who survived the explosions.

The question at this point was to find a system that would enable cellular regeneration in order to repair these
substantial side effects.

INTERNATIONAL
USER’S GUIDE 12
HISTORY

FAR-INFRARED RADIATION AND B-CARBON TECHNOLOGY

During the 1950s, while the US government was researching infrared for military purposes, NASA detected
waves that are vital to the growth and metabolism of living species: “growth rays”.

These rays range from 8 to 14 micrometers.

In the 1960s, the first devices emitting ceramic-based far-infrared rays were created in Japan.

In the 1980s, far infrared radiation emitted from the «black carbon» technology was found to be the best match
for the human body to absorb. The company Iyashi Dôme takes things further with a device that contains no
heating resistors.

The first Iyashi Dôme with B-Carbon technology was born.

INTERNATIONAL

HISTORY

IYASHI DÔME AND FAR-INFRARED RADIATION

In 1987, Iyashi Dôme filed and obtained a patent for its B-Carbon based far-infrared radiation device to be used
in wellness and beauty.

For the past 10 years, this device has never stopped being used and tested in Japan.

In 1998, the Shimazu Techno Research Laboratory of Koichi Tanaka [Nobel prize in Chemistry 2002] detected
the presence of dioxin, for the first time, in the perspiration of a person who had undergone a half-an-hour session
of Iyashi Dôme.

Iyashi Dôme SARL continues to conduct clinical research since 2004.

MOLECULES AND RADIATIONS

Radiation is the transfer of energy in the form of waves or particles, which can be produced via electro-magnetic
radiation [e.g. infrared] or by deterioration [e.g. radioactivity]

Consequently, the transfer can be done without matter. A good illustration of this is the radiation of the sun
in space.

Monochromatic coloured light is called radiation.

In physics, the term radiation or its synonym, rays, defines the energy emission or transmission
process in the form of particles or electro-magnetic waves or acoustic waves.

SKIN CROSS-SECTION

The skin is our body’s envelope which both protects

and allows our interaction with the external environment.

It is the largest organ of our body.

With an external surface of 2m², the skin represents

almost 6% of our body weight [with the exclusion
of the hypodermis]

Its complexity is revealed by a 3 layered structure

including the epidermis, the dermis and the hypodermis.

While our organism produces energy to function, it also accumulates toxic substances.
These substances are called toxins.

Moreover, we ingest other exogenous noxious substances from atmospheric and nutritional pollution.

These substances accelerate ageing and weaken our innate immune system.

Iyashi Dôme is the perfect solution to the problems associated with our current lifestyle that generates
a great amount of toxins.

PRESENTATION

FOR YOUR CUSTOMERS

-To deeply cleanse and slim your body, Japanese scientists have chosen one technique.

Return to the source and restore your balance.

In Japan, the Suna Ryoho was traditionally used as a toxin-evacuating cure. For several centuries, the Japanese
buried themselves under the warm sand of its seashores or hot-spring shorelines to detoxify.
The accumulated toxins were eliminated from the body via perspiration but once a place had been used, it was
carefully avoided for several days. The Iyashi Dôme can replicate the same effect without its inconveniences.

TECHNOLOGY

THE SKIN’S LAYERS

Epidermis: the outermost layer of the skin that protects the body.

This layer continually renews itself, compensating the cellular desquamation process on the surface of the skin.
What we see of our skin is the corneous layer that only represents an extremely small part of the skin.
It is the ultimate result of the keratinocyte differentiation process [lasting 4 to 6 weeks].
Two successive processes are involved in epidermal regeneration, namely cell division and differentiation.

Dermis: the support system of the skin.

Composed of 80% of water and protein fibers floating in a glycoprotein gel, the dermis is 10 to 40 times larger
than the epidermis. Its structure is divided into two areas: a superficial area adjacent to the epidermis, called the
papillary region and a deep thicker area known as the reticular region.
The first one strengthens the connection between the two layers of skin.
The second one gives the dermis its properties of strength, extensibility, and elasticity.

Hypodermis: the largest and thickest structure of the skin.

This layer is our body’s energy reserve, shapes our silhouette and allows for thermoregulation thanks to the
insulating properties of adipose tissue.
It consists essentially of adipocytes that specialize in storing energy as fat.
The volume of these cells varies according to diet, age and amount of physical activity.

TECHNOLOGY

THE TECHNOLOGY BEHIND THE IYASHI DÔME

Research has shown that the sand has the ability to diffuse heat via far-infrared rays.

However, isolated from other elements comprising earth and solar heat as well as salt, the detoxifying effect of
the sand on the human body is limited. Mineral-based far-infrared diffusion doesn’t offer optimal quality.

For optimal treatment efficiency, far-infrared rays must have two essential qualities :

First, they must match the human body’s radiation curve.

Secondly, their origin must be organic.

There are several types of far-infrared rays ranging from 3 to 1,000 micrometers.
Our body cells are receptive to far-infrared radiation ranging from 4 to 25 micrometers.

The Iyashi Dôme’s B-Carbon technology emits rays ranging from 5 to 20 micrometers that perfectly match the
human body.

Two technical specificities interact in the Iyashi Dôme.

INTERNATIONAL
USER’S GUIDE 21
TECHNOLOGY

B-CARBON: THE ORGANIC CARBON HEAT DIFFUSER

The ‘’Black Carbon’’ heat diffuser is a direct source of far-infrared emission that that enables the body to produce
quality perspiration.

THE PATENTED CERAMIC-TITANIUM CATALYZER

This catalyzer has been developed by Iyashi Dôme. Its technology is unique.

A specific fusion of ceramic and titanium provides a state-of-the-art catalyzing system that provides antibacterial
properties during a session of Iyashi Dôme.

GROWTH RAYS

Growth rays are far-infrared rays ranging from 8 to 14 micrometers, according to research led by NASA.

The human body emits radiation ranging from 4 to 25 micrometers.

Without these rays, no living organism can develop or regenerate.

The Iyashi Dôme emits far-infrared rays ranging from 5 to 20 micrometers.

Rays emitted by the Iyashi Dôme are comprised between growth rays and the human body’s radiation.

INTERNATIONAL
USER’S GUIDE 23
TECHNOLOGY

PERSPIRATION

One of the roles of perspiration is to eliminate toxins from your body.

Iyashi Dôme’s high-density heating panels are made of carbon fibers and minerals.

The panels emit far-infrared rays ranging from 5 to 20 micrometers.

Perspiration helps eliminate the micro-organisms found on the skin’s surface: the sweat released contains a
lysozyme, an enzyme that acts as a strong antibacterial agent as it digests a certain substance in bacteria cell
walls.

“Perspiration allows for the excretion of small quantities of carbonic gas and two organic
molecules produced by protein deterioration, namely ammonium and urea.”

S. Grabowski AND G. J. Tortora (2007). Principles of Anatomy and Physiology.

INTERNATIONAL
USER’S GUIDE 24
TECHNOLOGY

PERSPIRATION

There are two types of perspiration:

1st Category : from our sudoriferous glands (sports, bath, sauna, hammam).

This type of sweat is chemically similar to urine ( salt, uric acid, amino acids, potassium,
creatine, urea, water…).

2nd Category : from our sebaceous and apocrine glands (intensive exercise1, Iyashi Dôme).

Perspiration generated by the decomposition of fats including cholesterol, fatty acids, subcutaneous
fats as well as lactic acid, active oxygen and toxins.
Perspiration allowing for the dilution and removal of waste that builds up in our body including :
aluminum, zinc, barium, iron, titanium…

Intensive exercise refers to any physical efforts equivalent to a run of more than 20 km. Below 20 km, the body pro duces type 1 perspiration.
1

Above 20 km, the body begins to draw its energy from its fat reserves and produces type 2 perspiration.

DURING THE SESSION

It is strongly recommended the client begins the session lying on the stomach for 15 minutes and finishes on the back.

Mid-session monitoring and control to assess or adjust initial settings is recommended as well as lifting the towel to refresh
the client and avoid stress or palpitations.

- If the person has not lost any sweat after 12 or 15 minutes, you may raise the intensity by 1 point for each dome.
- If the person has started to sweat heavily, you may choose to lower the intensity by 1 point or reduce the
duration of the session.

It is recommended to sweat for at least 15 minutes during each session.

End-session monitoring – instruct the client to slowly come back to a sitting position, and avoid cold showers
at all costs because of the risk of hydrocution.

- Carefully note the intensity settings and the moment the client starts to sweat.

IN GENERAL, IT IS BETTER IF THE SESSION

IS TOO GENTLE THAN TOO STRONG.
