Omnirad 73
Photoinitiator
General Information
Omnirad 73 is a highly efficient, low yellowing, Type I photoinitiator used to initiate radical polymerization of
unsaturated oligomers e.g. acrylates, after exposure to UV light. It can be used in combination with mono
or multi functional monomers as reactive diluents.
Chemical Data
Absorption Spectrum
Melting point: 4 °C
Application
Omnirad 73 may be used, after adequate testing, in UV curable coating and ink formulations based on
acrylates, for substrates such as paper, wood, metal, plastics and glass.
Formulated product properties will depend on the actual reactive monomers, oligomers and additives utilized.
Omnirad 73 is miscible with most organic solvents and compatible with most oligomers and monomers used
in the UV Radcure industry. It is therefore highly suitable for blending with other photoinitiators.
Omnirad 73 is particularly recommended when UV cured coatings are required to exhibit only minimal
yellowing even after prolonged exposure to sunlight. This make it useful component in formulations for
outdoor applications
An addition level of 0.5 - 5% by weight of total formulation is recommended for technical applications.
Storage must be in a cool, shaded, well ventilated and dry area away from direct sources of heat and sunlight.
Avoid contact with alkaline additives and water. Subject to appropriate storage under the usual storage and
temperature conditions, our products are durable for at least 12 months.
Omnirad 73 should be handled in accordance with good industrial practice. Further information is provided
in the material safety data sheet which is available on request.
