Third Sustainable Development Goal

The United Nations developed Sustainable Development Goals back in 2015 to achieve
their target by mid 2030 with a view to emphasize Sustainable Development (Course
hero, 2021). The third SDG aims to ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at
all ages. It focuses on eradicating maternal and child mortality, improving mental health,
and reducing substance abuse. So why the third SDG matters? SDG 3 aims to prevent
needless suffering from preventable diseases and premature death by focusing on key
targets by reducing global maternal mortality to less than 70 per 100,000 live births and
ending epidemics like aids, and malaria. And there is important thing we should do
which is collaboration across sectors and countries can help scale up efforts and create
effective solutions to health challenges (unicef, nd). Masses of children and adults will
be starving this year, billions of citizens have no access to normal medicines, also the
amount of waste released globally is expected to rise in the next year, has a negative
effect to the health of the public. Furthermore, new risk to health and problems has
appeared because of growing mobility, economic integration, and political instability
affecting livelihoods across the world’s North and South (SDG Compass, n.d.). To
develop health care solutions which help their families, people, countries, and
communities, all stakeholders such as the business sectors must collaborate to speed up
expansion and fight new health issues. There are more than 17,000 fewer deaths of kids
every day were back in 1990, mainly because of more people getting access to
vacations. For example, based on the United Nations, diseases vaccines have saved
around 15.6 million deaths globally since 2000. Concerning treatment for HIV, 13.6
million people got the opportunity to receive antiretroviral medication by the end of
2014, yet the overall number of new infections caused by HVI in 2013 was expected to
reach 2.1 million, meaning it was 38 per cent lower than in 2001. These
accomplishments illustrate the importance of the Millennium Development Goal in
focusing worldwide efforts about the same goals. To make sure that nobody gets left
behind because of lack of access to health care and healthy lifestyle options, the
Sustainable Development Goal maintain and expand the number of activities and
players (IISD, n.d.). Companies should at least respect every human right such as the
right to health. Businesses of every size large and small can gain profit from and help
create successful communities. The SDGs provide businesses an opportunity to help in
achieving world health require through the offering of goods and services,
communication services, value chain, distribution network, safety and health at work
and benefits of workers. Businesses create better employees by ensuring that
employees have accessibility to health care and secure place to work and stronger
relations, that can frequently have positive effect on performance (SDG Compass, n.d.).
