I. Title: Magnifying Crystalls

II. Objective: This experiment aims to examine whether the object have the
characteristic of crytall in which we will determine if it was made by crystall or if
there any crystalls in the object.

III. Materials:
 Pinch of Sugar
 Pinch of Rock Salt and Iodized Salt
 Pinch of powdered Pepper
 Whole Pepper
 Magnifying Glass
 Marble

IV. Results

Sugar Corned Pepper

It was composed of crystalline. There is no Crystalline.

Fined Pepper
Rock salt and Iodized salt Actually don’t shine at any angle.
They are the same and I have seen little
crystalline structure.

Marble (under Magnifying Glass) Marble (without Magnifying Glass)

Due to many angles the crystalline Even without Magnifying Glass we can
structure is difficult to capture. still identify the crystalline structure of
the marble rock.
V. Guide questions

1. Can you see the diffrence between the sugar and the salt granules?why? Can you
see the different angles? Why?
During the examination of crystal look ,utilization of magnifying glass made
us see the differences between sugar and salt, aside from the color the Sugar has more
crystalline stucture in which it is easily determine the angles and edges in each piece
of sugar, while the salt has little crystal appearance but we can still see the angles and
edges of each piece of salt. Additionally, even if we compare the white sugar and the
salt which they have the same color, the crystalline enable us to distinguish between
the two substances.

2. Are this anlges in the pepper? Does it look crystalline?

In the powdered pepper and whole pepper, there is no crystal feature between
them, as these are compose of organic component.

3. How about the rock sample? Were you able to see angles?
Our rock sample is marble, and we have observed its crystalline structure.

4. Which of the substances appears to be made of crystals?

Salt, sugar and the marble are composed of crystalls.

5. Which helps you decide which is crystals and which are not?
Through the angles, edges of the subtances, and utilization of magnification
tool, we can determine if the substance is indeed crystalline or not.

VI. Conclusions
In summary, our experiment revealed that sugar, salt, and marble have
crystalline properties, with sugar heving the most crystalline structure. On the other
hand, both whole and powdered pepper did not exhibit any significant crystalline
features. The use of a magnifying glass and careful examination of angles and edges
proved to be valuable tools for determining the presence of crystallinity in the tested
substances. Sugar crystals are easy to identify when exposed to light because they
sparkle, while marble has a natural crystalline structure that can be seen without the
need for additional light.
