solved if you speculate that the
band were zonked out
of their brains when they wrote
it. This not necessarily a

revivalists have been caught
short by a timely re-issue of the

have more zap and marginally

clever electro-energised,
robotic - rock - cum - disco
chant from a fella (Robin Scott)

one side of the world's first
'double groove' single. Tricky
stuff, eh what?
SIDE EFFECT: Disco Junction
(Fantasy). Everyone vibrates on
his or her own particular
wavelength. Side Effect have
justfound mine. wouldn't I
claim this is a great disco/funk
record but if your pulse beats in
a similar time to mine it'll get
you dancing quicker than any
other current release. Care to
bump awhile?
SQUEEZE: Cool For Cats (A&M,
Who pic bag). Deadpan delivery of a
brilliant song about

well, it's life, innit? Do you

Bowie's earliest recordings (he
was lead singer of both groups
in 1965), packaged together for
fans and collectors who have
been offering small fortunes to
get hold of the original two rare
singles. To me the tracks are
clumsy, amateurish efforts that
represent the very worst side of
the '60s beat group era but I'll
say no more for fear of finding
myself croaking on a lily pad
next to our princely album
reviewer.
