WATER PUMP
Tighten nut (1) that holds the impeller to a torque of 55 lb. ft. (75
Nom). Continue to tighten until the cotter pin can be installed.
Use the procedure that follows to install the seal assembly:
a. Put water on seal (4).
b. Use 7N8268 Installation Tool and hand pressure only to install
seal (4) and the ring together in the housing bore with the shiny
face of the ring outside.
c. Remove spring (2) from seal (3).
d. Put water inside the seal assembly.
e. Install the seal assembly around the shaft, with the 7N8268 5
Installation Tool, (the tool is with the seal group) until the
carbon face makes contact with the shiny face of the ring.
f. Install spring (2).
NOTE: Put engine oil on the lip of seal (5).

NOTE: Write the dial Indicator measurements with their positive (+)
and negative (-) notation (signs). This notation is necessary lor
making the calculations in the chart correctly.
1. With the dial indicator in position at (C), adjust the dial indicator
to "a" (zero). Push the crankshaft up against the top bearing.
Write the measurement for bearing clearance On line 1 in column
(C)
2. Divide the measurement from Step 1 by 2. Write this number on
line 1 in columns (8) & (D). Al02.33Xl A (BOTTOM)
3. Turn the crankshaft to put the dial indicator at (A). Adjust the dial
indicator to "a" (zero).
4. Turn the crankshaft counterclockwise to putlhe dial indicator at
(8). Write the measurement in the chart.
5. Turn the crankshaft counterclockwise to put the dialindicator at
(C). Write the measurement in the chart.
6. Turn the crankshaft counterclockwise to put the dial indicator at
(D). Write the measurement in the chart.
7. Add lines I & II by columns.
