Peasants generally
had only one set of
clothing and it
almost never was
washed. Men wore
tunics and long
stockings. Women
wore long dresses
and stockings made
of wool. Some
peasants wore
underwear made of
linen, which was
washed “regularly.”
Medieval Food
- In medieval times your
role in the kingdom would
determine what you ate.
- Peasants could only eat
what they made:
vegetables, small animals
they caught and bread if
they were lucky.
-Nobles, who were rich,
could afford many
different kids of food and
had it made for them:
Beef, pork, fresh fish,
cheese and fruits
- Peasants meals were
simple and plain
- Nobel's could afford to
have spices and lots of
flavor.

gunpowder in Europe, the nature of
warfare changed radically and this had

outlook of late medieval Europe.

During the medieval period, astrolabes were


put to a wide range of uses. They were
primarily developed as an aid to religious
prayers. Since astrolabes helped to determine
the exact time of sunset, sunrise, and other
hours, they helped regulate daily prayer
hours.

Compass in medieval Europe came
to be simply a result of the need for
navigators, sailors, and merchants
to safely traverse the waters of the
Mediterranean.

By the late medieval period, eyeglasses had
become a popularly available instrument
all over Europe.Such early models
comprised of two pieces of glass or crystal
stones which were occasionally framed and
held together with a handle.

printing texts and books which was
invented by Johannes Gutenberg in the
first half of the 15th century. Gutenberg’s
invention proved critically significant for
the Renaissance that was taking place
across Europe.

It was around this time that the earliest
mechanical clocks were created by the
Christian monks who had extensive
knowledge of astronomy.the primary use was
in the monasteries. They were typically used
to keep track of hours for daily prayers, to
help monks calculate solar and lunar eclipses,
and to determine feast days with accuracy.
