In modern working environments you are highly likely to experience diversity, either within the
workforce, or among clients or customers. Diversity is a broad term that covers different groups in society and
can relate to gender, age, disability, ethnicity, religious beliefs and sexual orientation, among others.

Exercise 1
Consider your current or a previous environment. List some examples of the diversity that you have
experienced among colleagues.

There are many suggestions and ideas about the communication methods of the future and how they
might change our workplaces, but an interesting topic to consider here is that of augmented, virtual and mixed
reality.
Augmented reality overlays digital elements on what you can already see, whereas virtual reality
completely immerses you in an artificial environment generated by a computer. Mixed reality falls somewhere
between the two, allowing you to interact with virtual objects but in the real world.
