INTRODUCTION

A. Background

In schools, teachers are involved in school administration activities. Schools

carry out their activities to produce graduates whose number and quality have been
determined. In the scope of school administration, the role of teachers is very
important.

In establishing policies and carrying out the processes of planning, organizing,

directing, coordinating, financing and assessing curriculum activities, student affairs,
facilities and infrastructure, school personnel, finances and school-community
relations, teachers must actively make contributions, which are collaborative in
nature, meaning work that is based on based on cooperation, and not individually.
Therefore, all school personnel including teachers must be involved.

The obligations and responsibilities of educational leaders in general and

school principals in particular are also experiencing development and change. These
changes can be divided into three aspects:

1. Change in goals,

DISCUSSION

A. Understanding Islamic education administration

Educational administration consists of two words "administration" and
"education". The word administration according to William Moris, the author quoted
from the book on educational administration by Prof. Dr. H. Asnawir comes from
Latin which consists of "ad" and "ministrare", the word "ad" means the same as the
word "to" in English which means to or to, while the word "ministrare" which in
English is "serve ” which means to serve, help or direct. 1Thus it can be understood
that administration is an activity that provides services, assistance and direction to
something to achieve a goal.
Educational administration is the entire process of mobilizing and integrating
everything, both personnel, spiritual and material, which is related to achieving
educational goals. So, in the educational administration process, all the efforts of the
people involved in the process of achieving educational goals are integrated,
organized and coordinated effectively and all necessary and existing materials are
utilized efficiently.2
To fully understand the meaning of administration, the following are the
opinions of experts who put forward the meaning of administration
1. Drs. Soehari Trisna, administration is the entire process of organizing a
collaborative effort between two or more people rationally to achieve
predetermined goals efficiently.
2. Engkoswa said that educational administration is a science that studies the
arrangement of resources to achieve educational goals.
3. Ministry of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia, in the
Curriculum Implementation Guidelines, book III D. It is said that
administration is a joint effort to utilize all resources (personnel and materials)
effectively and efficiently to support the achievement of educational goals.

2
Ngali m Purwanto, Educational Administration and Supervision, (Jakarta: PT Teen Rosdakarya, 2009) p.3

4
4. Hadari Nawawi explained that educational administration is a series of
activities or the entire process of controlling the collaborative efforts of a
number of
5. people to achieve educational goals in a planned and systematic manner
carried out in a certain environment, especially in the form of educational
institutions.

From several definitions that have been put forward by the experts above, it can
be understood that administration is all activities carried out jointly to realize
predetermined goals.

B. Concept of Islamic Education Administration

The concept of administration is the entire implementation process related to systems,

principles, procedures and cooperation techniques as precisely as possible.

A process is a series of human actions that contain a specific purpose that is desired
by the person carrying out the action. Where an action is a human activity that contains a
certain purpose, so actions are seen from an active point of view, while events are seen
from a passive point of view. The concept of administration, if implemented in
educational activities, becomes educational administration as a behavioral system
process, meaning that in the administration of education there is a process of human
interaction in a system that is directed and coordinated in an effort to achieve educational
goals. Therefore, educational administration is a series of sequential and orderly activities
or processes using administrative principles.

Educational administration activities in order to utilize all available potential or

resources, to achieve goals, namely needs that are fought for to be met effectively and
efficiently. Activities or activities that are classified into the same type based on their
nature or implementation are called functions. These activities are combined into one unit
and handed over to the responsibility of someone responsible for a particular
organizational unit.

C. Islamic Education Administration Process

5
The educational administration process requires various approaches to achieve goals,
one approach is an integrated approach. The concept of an integrated administrative
approach is an approach that is based on prevailing norms and conditions, looks at the
past and is oriented towards the future in a careful and integrated manner in various
dimensions. An integrated approach involves dimensions and optimization of
coordination functions and its implementation is supported by the concept of participatory
management.3

The management or administration process is an activity that is continuous but

systematic, not haphazard or haphazard, but regularly in a continuous manner.
Management is not without a goal, but there is a goal to be achieved. However, even
though the goal has been achieved, it does not mean that the activity stops because in the
dynamics of management a goal that has been achieved is followed or continued with the
next goal. Management as a process, has many fundamental tasks or functions. Several
experts have different opinions about these fundamental functions, but in essence the
main classifications are planning, organizing, driving and supervising.

Achieving goals through the cooperation of other people focuses on efforts to utilize
people, which means he is the one doing the performance, but through the resources
available for this as a means and infrastructure for collaborative efforts to achieve these
goals. What is meant by available resources is all potential that can be utilized in the
context of completing the work of the cooperation business in question.

D. Goals of Islamic education administration

The aim of educational administration is to increase the efficiency and effectiveness

of implementing educational operational activities in achieving educational goals.
Meanwhile, the main aim of education is to develop the personality and abilities of
students so that they become citizens who have quality, in accordance with the ideals of
the nation based on Pancasila.

Operationally, educational administration aims to:

1. Facilitate administrative work in the education sector, facilitate the implementation

process, utilize human and material potential which is expected to produce

healthy in order to achieve resolution of the administrative problems faced in the
education sector.
2. Creating a spiritual, psychological and social climate by paying attention to and

3. Increase morale and a spirit of solidarity among individuals involved in
administrative activities at educational institutions.
4. Increasing the work productivity of workers, as well as improving the quality,

attitudes in carrying out the work they are assigned to do.
6. Bring about the desired changes in the educational process in all its aspects and
encourage students to achieve comprehensive and complete growth, and be able
to make adjustments in a society that is always experiencing change.
7. Connecting the education process and development goals in society, as well as
strengthening the relationship between education and society/the environment.

E. Benefits of Islamic Education Administration

Ahmad Sabri in his book educational administration states that the benefits of
educational administration for an education worker who studies educational
administration are:
1. Be able to know and be aware of the duties and authorities that they must carry out
and know how to carry out their respective duties and authorities.
2. Can avoid work errors or overlapping work/tasks.
3. Know how to carry out educational activities in order to achieve educational goals
so that they are achieved effectively and appropriately.
4. Know the limits of the rights and obligations of each educational staff.

Furthermore, the benefits of educational administration according to Prof. Dr. H.

Asnawir is as follows:

1. Raising the level of employee performance and helping to succeed and improve
that performance.

7
2. Create a good working climate to implement the principles of healthy human
relations by emphasizing respect for everyone at the educational institution
