3 Fuselage
3 Fuselage
(ATA 53/52/56)
1. Fuselage is the main structural unit, to which the wings and the tail unit of the
airplane are attached.
2. It provides space for the crew,
passengers, cargo, fuel tanks for some
aircraft, and powerplant (except in
multi-engine airplanes in which the
engines are usually mounted in the
wings)

3. The fuselage must be strong enough at
the points of attachment to withstand
flying and landing loads. Also,-it อง

WINGS
• Strong fuselage frames or bulkheads
are used in the attach area to carry the
loads from the wings and to transfer the
loads to the remainder of the fuselage
through longerons and beams.
• Fittings or lugs mounted on the frame
mate with fittings or lugs mounted on
the forward and aft wing spar for
attachment with bolts or other
fasteners.

FUSELAGE ATTACHMENTS
STABILIZERS
• The vertical fin attachment is
typically by bolts through fittings
on a frame member or
bulkhead. The attach fittings on
the stabilizer are usually on the
front and rear spars.
• Some horizontal stabilizers are
attached directly to the vertical
stabilizer. Other horizontal
stabilizers are attached to the
fuselage frames.

UNDERCARRIAGE
• The undercarriage of the
fuselage includes the wheel
wells. They are framed by heavy
structural members and webs.
วย ใน ห ก
• A keel beam may be used in
the wheel well to strengthen
the fuselage.
• The fuselage undercarriage
structure is strong and
designed to transmit forces
throughout the entire airframe.

ENGINE PYLON
• Fuselage attachments may also
include engine pylons.
• The pylon structure contains the
attachments for the engine
mounts. Expect heavily built up
frame members in the pylon
attach area.

RADOME
• The nose radome is an aerodynamic
fairing on the front of the fuselage.
• Most of the material in the radome is
fiberglass.
• The lightning diverter strips decrease
lightning energy and transmit it to the
airframe.

DOORS CONSTRUCTION
PASSENGER DOOR
• Aircraft doors are constructed similarly
to the fuselage. จ. เดเ า อน
• Vertical and horizontal aluminum
structural members are skinned on the ล. อย ด ออก
outside and inside of the door for
strength.
• Latching and locking mechanisms are
installed within the structure.
• The loads resulting from cabin pressure อง น อากาศ ออก
are transferred by door stops.
• An inflatable seal around the door
perimeter or other type of sealing
mechanism is included on all doors.
