Dear Mr Smith,

I’m writing to you to inform you about a serious accident that occurred last night in our
London branch, for which I am the shop manager. All employees involved are safe and
well, but I regret to inform you that considerable damage has been done to the shop
itself.

The incident began at around seven in the evening, when Ryan Pang, the assistant
manager, left a candle unattended in the staff room. Mr Pang had been attempting to
improve staff wellbeing and believed that scented candles were an appropriate way to
allow his team members to relax during break times. Sadly, the candle caught alight on
a nearby coat, whose sleeves were dangling near the open flame. Within five minutes,
the whole room was filled with smoke and began to fill the shop floor outside. It was at
this time that I first noticed the smell and, upon entering the room, realised the grave
mistake that had occurred.

I immediately called the emergency services and called for the shop to be evacuated of
customers. Through my quick actions, this tragic occurrence only damaged property
rather than destroy lives. As you know, the safety of our staff is of the utmost
importance to me and so I have since rebuked Mr Pang for his actions and all staff will
undergo mandatory fire hazard training so that this event does not repeat itself.
