Running with the Ball, Dribbling, Defending (1) (20 mins)

How to Play - Warm-Up Activity


- Players move the b all around area in pairs.
- 1 player leading with b all.
Upon command players perform the following and change role:
- 1. 20 toe taps
- 2. Move around area with inside of the foot.
- 3. Move around area with outside of the foot.
- 4. Move around area with the sole of the foot.
What to Look for?
Do the players:
- Use the different surfaces to move the b all away from the other
players?
- move the b all into space?
- Demonstrate an awareness b y keeping their head up?
Changes to the Game
Is it too Hard (Regression) - Begin b y walking.
Is it too Easy (Progression) - Players with b all attempt to lose
player following whilst maintaining possession.

How to Play - Warm-Up Activity


Each player starts at a different coloured cone. Initially with a free
choice of direction players move with the b all from cone to
cone.Then the run is colour coded, requiring the player to map out
a course following the set colour of cones.
What to Look for
Do the players:
- Look around to see where they will move to next?
- Change direction rather than running in straight lines or circles?
- Move to areas that are less crowded rather than b unching?
Changes to the Game
Is it too Hard (Regression) - Do not colour code the players
movements allowing them to move anywhere within the area.
Is it too Easy (Progression) - Introduce a b all with players having to
do various tasks at and in b etween cones i.e. toe taps, passes,
turns etc
