Assignment # 5: Components of Excavations
Note: Make suitable assumptions wherever necessary.
1. Check the stability of the circular, cellular coffer dam shown in fig. Take  = 18kN/m3,  = 30,
 = 25, K = 0.6, f = 0.3, Tall = 1500kN/m. The diameter of the main cells is 15m.

2. For a rock anchor shown in figure, find the ultimate uplift capacity based on the data provided.
Assume yield stress of steel = 1500 MPa, bond stress (steel-grout) = 1000 kPa, bond stress (grout-
rock) = 500 kPa, shear strength of rock = 5000 kPa. [5 Marks]
