Explaining the impact of Personal Project:
Because the personal project consists of a
learning goal and a product, it can result
in a variety of impacts on the student and/or
the community.

v Demonstrate a deeper knowledge and understanding of the topic

v Use evidence to justify new knowledge of topic gained

v Identify & explain how the student has developed as a learner, using the IB
Learner Profile Traits

v Discuss strengths & challenges (academic & personal) in reference to the


process of completing the Personal Project

v Identify challenges faced and solutions developed to meet those challenges

v Consider the possible impact the project could have on future learning, e.g. in
the DP

v Discuss the lasting impact of this project.

When reflecting, you might want to ask yourself:

• Were my success criteria too easy or too


difficult?
• How did the ATL skills contribute to the success
of my product?
• How did the ATL skills contribute to the success
of my learning?
• What was in my control? What was outside of my
control?
• What would I do differently if I started again?

• For each success criteria, it is measured for strengths and challenges as well as an overall rating
given in terms of the feedback taken from various stakeholders.
(Evidence is shown for each success criteria of the feedback received, which led to the particular rating).
• SWOT/ SCOT can be done too.
