Have you thought of running across Canada with an artificial leg, and you just do not want to give up? B. I am going to introduce you my hero, Terry Fox. C. Terry Fox is one of the greatest Canadian heroes, and the founder of the Marathon of Hope. He is probably the greatest contributor to cancer research by his little action. He gave hope to every cancer patient today. Because of his dream, he changed the destiny of these cancer survivors. Can you imagine how many people were cured because of his dream, selfless, and love? You must know how great Terry Fox was, and how he made a difference. D. Today, I am going to tell you 1. Had fun with his sibling playing hockey and baseball. c. Doug Alward was Terrys best friend, who is very good at basketball, crosscountry, and academic, motivate Terry do work harder. d. March 9, 1977, discovered tumor in his right knees. 2. The thought of Marathon Hope a. Read about an amputated runner, and did not feel happy about not having enough money to explore cancer. He decided to make a difference. b. Spent 16 months to recover and learn to use an artificial leg. c. Raise money for cancer research by the Marathon of Hope. 3. The journey of the Marathon Hope a. April 12,1980, started his journey in St. John, Newfoundland. b. Achieve about 40 kilometers per day. c. September 1, 1980, serious pain at chest, hard to breath. Stop around Thunder Bay. d. In 143 days, 5373 kilometers were accomplished. e. Found out cancer had spread to his lung.

f. Suffer 10 months, never wanted to give up, on June 28, 1981, he passed away. C. The Terry Fox Foundation 1. Feburary 1, 1981, $24.17 million through the Terry Fox's Marathon of Hope 2. $550 million has been raised worldwide through the Terry Fox Run every year, held by the Terry Fox Foundation. 3. Mission Statement: Raise money for cancer research through the Terry Fox Run like how Terry started his. The Run is to remember and honor the legacy of Terry Fox. 4. This year's event: " Terry Fox Great Canadian Hair 'Do'" a. Shave our hair in honor to cancer patient who are suffering, and survivors who live happily III. Conclusion A.
