How Covid-19

took over the

world in 2020
By: Emily Schnitzer
Overview
This exhibit provides information about the
covid-19 virus and talks about the way the
world was during this pandemic. This virus
was so bad, because it was a pandemic there
was originally no vaccine for. The virus hurt
or affected mostly everyone in the world
with their heath, jobs, money, etc. It was a
major impact for everyone all over the
world, but mostly in the United States, Italy,
Spain, and France.
Purpose

I care about this topic, because I

lived during this time and the world
wasn’t the kind of world I wanted it
to be. I made this to share
information about this devaasting
time for those living in 2020, hoping
that it doesn’t happen again.
The Mask
What was the Mask?
was a covering that doctors, surgeons, and nurses wore to keep
them safe and others while in operations
had two layers of gauze, a wire, and two strings (one each side) to
perfectly fit a human's face and cover their nose and mouth
was used to cover both the nose and mouth of a person and keep
them safe and protected from viruses, diseases, and any other
contagious sicknesses
The History of the Mask
1898-2071
Johann Freiherr von Mikulicz-Radeckir
was first created for medical works
in 2020 the average person also would wear them to
keep them safe from the Covid-19 virus
benefited everyone
everyone stopped wearing them because now not
nearly as many people have the virus

The Impact of the Mask
helped decrease the amount of people who got the virus
The Hand Sanitizer
What was Hand Sanitizer?
was a liquid, gel, or foam used to clean hands
was a hand-cleaning strategy if someone wasn’t able
to wash their hands right away with soap and water
could kill viruses, bacteria, and microorganisms on
your hands
The History of Hand Sanitizer
was invented by Lupe Hernandez in 1966 and used
until 2071
was used very often and almost everyone would
have a bottle of it in their car, bag, purse, house,
locker, etc.
was used a lot, more during the COVID-19 pandemic
isn’t as popular now, since not as many people have
the virus anymore
Hand Sanitizer Infographic
The Impact of Hand Sanitizer
it benefited us humans
it allowed us to have a way of cleaning our hands if
we couldn’t get to a sink
it decreased the amount of people who got sick from
the virus
Businesses Shutting Down
Why Were Businesses Shutting Down?
many businesses closed due to lack of money and
workers
most businesses that shut down in March 2020 never
reopened
in-person stores were not used as much and people
had to use online shopping more
When Did Businesses Start Shutting Down?
many had to shut down in March 2020
started to reopen because the virus wasn’t
spreading as much and there was a vaccine made
they then were able to reopen, but just had to take
precautions for a couple years
Closed Businesses Infographic
The Impact of Closed Businesses
didn’t benefit anyone, other than the fact that people
weren’t at work, where they could catch the virus
many people lost their jobs because of these
businesses closing down
when fewer people started getting the virus, and
stores opened back up, there was still trouble for the
stores
Social Distancing
What was Social Distancing?
was when people stood apart from each other to prevent the virus from
spreading
when the virus first occurred, people had to stand 6ft apart, but later on
around the beginning of 2021 it was reduced to 3ft apart, since the vaccine was
made
it was used all around the world and many public places enforced it including,
schools, stores, etc.
there would even be marks on the ground to show 6ft of distance
there were also chairs closed off in buildings, so people were socially distanced
The History of Social Distancing
March 2020 - August 2021
was stopped, because not as many people were
getting the virus
Social Distancing Infographic
The Impact of Social Distancing
was created to prevent people from spreading or
getting the virus
it benefited everyone
The Testing Places
What were Covid-19 Testing Places?
places where people got tested for the covid-19 virus
in a safe way
were all over the place
you would have to make an appointment beforehand
for some of them and others you could just come and
get tested
they had to get tested in order to see if they had the
virus or not
if they did, they would have to quarantine for 14 days
The History of Covid-19 Testing Places
2020- 2024
created by the country of South Korea
was started to test people who were with a person who had the
virus or if they had symptoms
testing has stopped, because not as many people can get the
virus and they don’t need to be tested this way for it
Covid-19 Testing Place Graphic
The Impact of These Testing Places
this system benefited everyone
it was a good way to keep people healthy, safe, and
not spread the virus if you had it
was fast and easy especially the drive-up ones as
shown above
All of Those Who Got Sick and Died
Why Were So Many People Getting
Sick and Dying?
because the virus was very easy to spread and get
was out of hand and so many people kept spreading and getting the
virus
then the vaccine was made in 2021
after it was made the virus was a little more controlled and less
people were dying, but people were still getting the virus
History of Those Who Got the Virus and Died
people started getting sick November 2019 and the
first death occurred in April 2020
the first person who got sick was a 55 year-old
individual in Hubei, China
people dying and getting sick never ended since the
virus is still a thing and people can still get sick
from it today, just not as many people are getting
sick and dying from it
Numbers in Graphs
The Impact of All the Cases and Deaths
didn’t benefit anyone, since many people got sick and died
forced the world to adapt to a new way of life
forced the world to be more forgiving, understanding, and
helpful
caused many people to realize how thankful they were
for what they took for granted every day
