1. GENERAL INFORMATION

This supplement contains data for operation above pressure altitudes of 10,000 ft ASL.
The information and data contained in this document supplements the information contained in the basic
Approved Flight Manual for the DHC - 8 Model 202 aircraft. For limitations, procedures and performance
information not contained in this document refer to the Approved Flight Manual or other applicable
Approved Flight Manual Supplements.
This Supplement must be attached to the Approved Flight Manual for the aircraft with the subject design
change incorporated.

2. LIMITATIONS (MANDATORY)

The information in Section 2 of AFM and the Supplement Compatibility Table in Sub Section 1.5 of the
approved AFM are applicable with addition of the following:

2.1 Operation with this supplement requires the incorporation of:


1) Service Bulletin 8-32-134 - Mod 8/2484 Enhanced Brakes
2) Approved Passenger Oxygen System adequate for operational requirements such as:
 CR 835CH02001 45 Minute Automatic Presentation Passenger Oxygen System
 AMM 35-22-00 – Passenger Oxygen Automatic Presentation System
 Avmax Engineering Order CE84-401 Passengers Personal Oxygen System
3) Avmax EO CE40-401 Cabin Pressurization Light Modification.

2.2 Maximum altitude for takeoff and landing is 14,000 ft ASL

2.3 Approved flap settings under this supplement:

(a) Takeoff 0 deg

(b) Approach 5 deg

(c) Landing 15 deg

2.4 Approved take-off and landing operations under this supplement:

(a) Day VMC – no restriction

(b) Night VMC – minimum ceiling 2,000 feet above airport elevation within 25 NM
– minimum visibility 10 NM
– EGPWS must be operational

(c) IMC Departures – same limitation as night VMC

(d) IMC Arrivals – airport ceiling 500 feet above Final Approach Fix (FAF) altitude for the
approach being flown
– minimum visibility 10 NM
– airport must be insight at the FAF
– EGPWS must be operational

2.5 This supplement is not compatible with the following supplements in AFM section 1.5:

(a) Supplement 3- Operation in tailwinds between 10 and 20 knots

(b) Supplement 7- Operation with Inoperative Anti-Skid Brake Control System

(c) Supplement 8- Operation with Inoperative Nose Wheel Steering System

(d) Supplement 10- Operation with One ECU Inoperative

(e) Supplement 12- Steep Approach and Landing

(f) Supplement 13- Take-off with Reduced Power

(g) Supplement 16- Category II Operations

(h) Supplement 21- Take-off and Landing Bleed ``On``

(i) Supplement 22- Noise Abatement Procedures -Take-off with 1150 Propeller RPM

(j) Supplement 23- Noise Abatement Procedures (Landing with 1050 propeller RPM)

NOTE
Additional or future supplements should be reviewed to ensure compatibility with this Supplement.

2.6 In flight the pilot flying MUST be on Oxygen when the cabin altitude is above 10,000 feet.

NOTE
In flight it is recommended that both pilots be on oxygen when the Cabin Altitude is above10,000 feet.

2.7 A 25 degree Bank must not be initiated prior to the Landing Gear indicating UP

3. EMERGENCY PROCEDURES
The Emergency Procedures in the AFM section 3 are applicable.

4. NORMAL AND ABNORMAL PROCEDURES

4.1 NORMAL PROCEDURES


The normal procedures in Section 4 are applicable with the addition of the following :

FLIGHT COMPARTMENT PRE- START CHECKLIST– POWER ON

CABIN ALTITUDE controls - Set as follows

(a) AUTO / MANUAL / DUMP switch - AUTO

(b) Cabin Altitude Manual Control rotary selector - fully Counter Clockwise

(c) Cabin Altitude CAB SET/ NORM - CAB SET

(d) Cabin Altitude RATE knob - set in the detent

(e) BLEED selector - MIN

(f) BLEED 1 and BLEED 2 switches - OFF

(g) Cabin Altitude CAB ALT - set to 10000 ft

4.2 ENGINE START PROCEDURES

In addition to normal Engine Start Procedures per the AFM

NOTE

To minimize possible high ITT during the start, it is recommended that the CONDITION
LEVERS are not selected to START FEATHER until 20% or maximum stabilized NH
on the start is achieved.

4.3 PRE TAKE-OFF PROCEDURES

In addition to the normal takeoff procedures in the AFM include

(a) OXYGEN MASKS - ON - Normal or 100% selected

(b) AUDIO PANEL MIC switches - MASK- establish communication

(c) TAKEOFF FLAP switch - Press

NOTE

The take-off rotation rate above 5000 ft is less rapid than required below 5000 ft to
achieve Take off performance.

4.4 AFTER TAKE-OFF PROCEDURES

In addition to the normal After Take-off procedures in the AFM include

(a) BLEED SWITCHES - ON

(b) Monitor Cabin Pressure - Cabin Pressurizing

NOTES

Some adjustment may be required to facilitate Cabin Pressurization

After Cabin Altitude attains 10000 ft, adjust CABIN ALT to 8000 ft or desired CABIN ALT for the
enroute. CABIN PRESS caution light extinguished.

(c) Oxygen Masks - Remove and stow

(d) AUDIO PANEL MIC switches - BOOM- establish communication

(e) Cabin Altitude - set as required

(f) CAB SET / NORM switch - NORM

4.5 TOP OF DESCENT PROCEDURES

In addition to the normal Top of Descent Procedures in the AFM include

(a) AUTO / MANUAL / DUMP switch - AUTO

(b) Cabin Altitude CAB SET / NORM switch - NORM

(c) Cabin Altitude CAB ALT - set 10000 ft

NOTES

The cabin altitude will rise to 10000 ft and the CABIN PRESS caution light may illuminate

The rate knob may be used to facilitate cabin depressurization rate to 10000 ft

(d) Oxygen masks - don Normal or 100% selected

(e) AUDIO PANEL MIC switches - MASK - establish communication

4.6 APPROACH PROCEDURES

In addition to the normal Approach Procedures in the AFM include

(a) CAB ALT rotary switch- May be used to maintain the cabin altitude at 0.5 psi
differential or lower for landing

(b) Bleeds 1 and 2- OFF at 300 ft Above Ground Level (AGL)

NOTE

When bleeds selected off the cabin altitude will rise to the actual aircraft altitude.

Bleeds should NOT be selected off above 14000 ft as the Passenger Oxygen System may
deploy

4.7 LANDING PROCEDURES

In addition to the normal Landing Procedures in the AFM include

To decrease the touchdown rate of descent Power MAY be required in the landing flare.

4.8 ABNORMAL PROCEDURES


The abnormal procedures in Section 4 of the AFM are applicable.
