General Instructions:

• It is compulsory for all to prepare the Project file.


• The Internal Assessment will be in the form of Project Portfolio/Project Report and Viva. Both
Project and Viva will carry 5 Marks each.
• The Internal Assessment will be taken by an external examiner. The Project File of yours will
be checked by the external examiner. TheViva will also be taken by him/her at the same time.
• The Project Report is needed to be completed in 1500 words in your ownhandwriting.

Project-Portfolio/ Project Report

The Project-Portfolios is a compilation of the work that the students produce during the process of working on
their ALS Project. The Project-Portfolio may include the following:

PROJECT TOPICS
You have to make pictorial as well as graphical presentation on left hand side of the file. All data should be
collected authentically and hand written essay should be written on the right side.

TOPIC 1 - The Last Lesson

• Elaborate the theme of Linguistic Chauvinism and Procrastination and importance of


Time Management.
• Collect data about countries where people have these tendencies.
• How do they give importance to their mother tongue?
TOPIC 2 - The Lost Spring

• Collect data about various slums in our country and living conditions there.Also elaborate
whether children have access of education there.
• How children are engaged in various kinds of work (Below 14)?
• Collect all information about biggest slums.

TOPIC 3 - Deep Water


• Elaborate your any personal experience about any kind of fear haunted you yet.
• How did you overcome that fear?
• Create a "fear hierarchy" similar to what William Douglas did in the story. You can identify and rank your
own fears, discussing the emotional and physical responses associated with each.

TOPIC 4 – The Rattrap

• Research and present real-life examples of people who have experienced transformations in their lives due
to an act of kindness. Discuss the impact of these stories on society and how they relate to the themes in "The
Rattrap."
• Compare and contrast "The Rattrap" with another short story, novel, or work of literature that explores
similar themes, such as the power of kindness or the transformation of characters. Highlight the similarities and
differences in how these themes are portrayed.

TOPIC 5 - Indigo

• Create a detailed historical timeline that outlines the key events and developments in the indigo industry in
India during the colonial period. Include information about the Indigo Revolt and the role of individuals like
Dinabandhu Mitra.
• Discuss the modern applications of indigo dye in fashion and textile industries. Analyze the demand for
organic and sustainable indigo and its economic implications.

TOPIC 6 – Going Places


 Investigate the societal expectations placed on teenagers in terms of career choices, academic performance,
and personal goals. Discuss how these expectations impact Sophie's decisions and emotional state.
 Write a heartfelt letter to Sophie offering advice and support. Use the letter to convey your understanding
of the challenges she faces and provide guidance on making informed decisions about her future.
TOPIC 7- My Mother At Sixty-six
• Compare Kamala Das's perspective on aging and mortality in "My Mother at Sixty-Six" with the
views of other poets, authors, or artists. You can create comparative essays or presentations that
highlight the similarities and differences in how these themes areexplored.
• Collect data about condition of old age homes in our country, living condition there, number of old
age homes.
TOPIC 8 - Keeping Quiet

• Research and analyze the role of poetry in promoting social change and unity. You can explore how
poetry, like the one presented in "Keeping Quiet," has been used to address societal issues and promote peace. You
can create essays or presentations on this topic.
• Focus on relevance of meditation and introspection.

TOPIC 9 - A Thing Of Beauty

• Investigate the role of beauty and appearance in the age of social media. You can explore how modern
culture and technology have influenced perceptions of beauty and body image. This can include surveys, interviews,
or a discussion of ethical considerations.
• Collect data of important natural destinations of our country.

TOPIC 10 - A Roadside Stand


 Investigate and present information about the challenges faced by small-scale farmers in the present day.
Discuss issues related to agricultural economics, sustainable farming practices, and community support
for local farmers.
 Compare and contrast rural and urban life as depicted in "A Roadside Stand." Discuss the advantages and
disadvantages of each lifestyle as presented in the story.

TOPIC 11 – Aunt Jennifer’s Tigers


 Create a visual interpretation of the poem. You can use various art forms, such as paintings, drawings, or
collages, to depict Aunt Jennifer's tigers and the themes of the poem.
 Explore the poem from a feminist perspective. Discuss how it reflects the challenges faced by women in
patriarchal societies and the ways women express themselves and seek empowerment.

TOPIC 12 - The Third Level

• Why ‘hurry and worry’ are trademarks of modern men?


• pare and contrast "The Third Level" with other works of literature that explore similar themes, such as time
travel, escapism, or nostalgia. How do different authors handle these themes, and what are the commonalities and
differences?
TOPIC 13 – The Tiger King
• Explore the possibility of "The Tiger King" serving as a political allegory. Discuss how the story might
reflect the political dynamics of the time it was written and the consequences of unchecked power.
• Compare and contrast the Maharaja's pursuit of the tiger with the pursuit of power by historical or
contemporary political leaders. Discuss the commonalities and differences in their ambitions and actions.

TOPIC 14 – The Enemy

• Explore the ethical considerations in medical practice during wartime. Discuss how doctors like Dr. Sadao
navigate the complexities of treating wounded enemies while upholding their professional ethics.
• Research the historical context of the story, particularly Japan during World War II. Discuss the impact of the
war on Japanese society and the role it plays in the characters' experiences.

TOPIC 15 - On The Face Of It

• Interview a physically challenged person and write about his views on the problems he faced due to
his condition.
• What is the attitude of the society towards him/her?
• Collect data on the condition of rehabilitation centers in India and how people are living there?
