Implement Cycle Time - Check

SMCS - 6000-535-VF

The implement cycle time can be checked in order to verify a complaint about slow implement speed.
This test will also help to determine whether all functions are slow or only one function is slow.

Machine Preparation For Troubleshooting

1. Move the machine to a smooth, level surface. Move away from working machines and
personnel. Lower the bucket to the ground.

2. Allow only one operator on the machine. Keep all personnel away from the machine or in the
view of the operator.

3. Place the transmission into neutral.

4. Engage the parking brake.

5. Place the steering frame lock in the LOCKED position.

Implement Cycle Time

The speed of the implements is affected by the amount of oil flow that is produced by the implement
pump. Check the implement cycle times in order to determine if there may be a problem with the
implement pump.

Warm the hydraulic oil to normal operating temperature.

Raise Time With Rated Load

1. Fill the bucket with rated load.

2. Tilt back the bucket. Lower the lift linkage to the full LOWER position.

3. Run the engine at high idle.

4. Move the lift control lever to the full RAISE position. Hold the lift control lever in this position
until the lift cylinder reaches the end of travel.

5. Record the amount of time that is required to the work tool to travel from the ground to the full
RAISE position.

6. The time should be approximately 8.5 seconds.

Float Down Time With Empty Bucket

1. Position the bucket parallel to the ground.

2. Position the bucket barely above the ground. Set the lower kickout.

3. Raise the lift linkage to the full RAISE position.

4. Run the engine at high idle.

5. Move the lift control lever to the full LOWER DETENT position.

6. Record the time from the full RAISE position to the lower kickout near the ground.

7. The time should be approximately 4.5 seconds.

Power Down Time With Empty Bucket

1. Position the bucket parallel to the ground.

2. Position the bucket barely above the ground. Set the lower kickout.

3. Raise the lift linkage to the full RAISE position.

4. Run the engine at high idle.

5. Move the lift control lever to the full LOWER position. Do not go into the LOWER DETENT
position.

6. Record the time from the full RAISE position to the lower kickout near the ground.

7. The time should be approximately 6.6 seconds.

Dump Time With Rated Load

1. Fill the bucket with rated load.

2. Position the lift linkage to the full RAISE position.

3. Position the bucket to the full TILT BACK position.

4. Run the engine at high idle.

5. Move the tilt control lever to the full DUMP position. Hold the tilt control lever in this position,
until the bucket is in the full DUMP position.

6. Record the time from the full TILT BACK position to the full DUMP position.

7. The time should be approximately 3.0 seconds.

Tilt Back Time With Empty Bucket

1. Position the bucket parallel to the ground.

2. Position the bucket approximately 300 mm (12 inch) above the ground.

3. Run the engine at high idle.

4. Move the tilt control lever to the full TILT BACK position. Hold the tilt control lever in this
position until the bucket is against the stop.

5. Record the time from the level position to the full TILT BACK position.

6. The time should be approximately 2.3 seconds.
