Language Arts Activities
Ebenezer Scrooge allowed circumstances in his life to affect his choices.
This resulted in a life that was far from who he started out as.
Write a letter to your older self. Pick an age - 10, 20, 30 years in the
future. In this letter, write about lessons that you believe to be important
now. What can you do to make sure you don't forget about them?

Dickens uses the plot device of "time travel" to show how Ebenezer
Scrooge's choices affected his life, but it also showed how he made
choices based on incomplete information.
Pick one scene in the movie or book that stood out to you and rewrite it
to show what would have happened if Scrooge had chosen differently.

We get a brief look at the life of the Cratchit family. They don't have
much, but they have a joy that Scrooge doesn't understand.
Pick a member of the Cratchit family and write a journal entry of a day
in that character's life. What do you think their day would have been
like?

Rewrite a scene in the movie or book from the point of view of one of the
Christmas "ghosts." How do you think they felt when they received their
"assignment?" How would you have felt about having to help Ebenezer
Scrooge, or about having to lead him through hard lessons? Do you think
they knew the impact they could make?
