1. Audio/Video content (Briefly note down the main content of the audio/ video)
Four different animals: llamas
alpacas South America, related to camels
vicunas
guanacos
- llamas and alpacas: domesticated animals
- vicunas and guanacos: wild animals
- llamas: the biggest animal - 1.8 meters tall, used to carry things, sociable, live
together in groups, in herds, sometimes spit at people.
- alpaca: smaller than llamas, famous for its wool - softer, warmer than sheep’s
wool the fashion industry.
- Vicunas: elegant and graceful creatures, their wool is softer than alpaca wool
but only shorn of their wool every three years expensive, only the royal
family were allowed to wear them.
- guanacos: capable of surviving at over 4000 meters in the Andes, in the desert -
survive by licking the water off the cacti and other desert plants.
- llamas: humming - stress or relax, use as guard dogs - protect sheep and hens
2. My reflection (Note down what you have learned from the audio/ video)
- After listening audio, I knew that the llamas are raised as pets. They are
really useful because they not only help farmers to protect other animals
but also carry our things.
- When you mistreat a llama, it can spit on you. If you don’t want it to do
that, you have to know the way to treat it.
- Vocabulary:
+ domesticate /dəˈmes.tɪ.keɪt/: to bring animals or plants under human
control in order to provide food, power, or company.
eg: Dogs were probably the first animals to be domesticated.
+ shear /ʃɪr/: to cut the wool off a sheep
