Project Description:

3D printing, also known as additive manufacturing, is a process that creates three-

dimensional objects by adding material layer by layer. Material selection for 3D printing is a
critical aspect of the process, as it greatly influences the properties and characteristics of the
final printed object.

Students need to produce a mock-up model using design from course CPT3122 (Product
Design 3) and produce a detailed report on process and materials used in 3D printing. Reports
should include details on material properties and material manufacturing process. The
compiled report should be submitted in word of pdf with proper front page & format.
Evaluation criteria and marks for this assignment are as listed below.

1) Introduction to the product

- The usage of the product
- The purpose of the material chosen for the product
- The cost involved in product development

2) Material used
- Types of material
- Composition of material

3) Manufacturing process
- Detailed technical explanation process involved
- Step of producing the product (use a flow chart)
