More than twenty-five years ago Samuel Haight, the

most controversial character in World Of Darkness
pl
had been created. This infamous character,
regardless of his literary quality, marked a before and
after. The creation of a global threat made possible
the first shared story among the three most popular
White Wolf games of that time. At last it felt like an
expanded universe where we could experience a true
m

bestiary. A character like Samuel Haight was needed

to explore the chronicles of cross-games and refine
the rules of a meta-plot on an epic scale.
Samuel Haight left us one of the most interesting
concepts inside the Werewolf universe and they are
the Skin Dancers. The Kinfolks were only
Sa

background characters and their influence inside the

stories was little explored. The Skin Dancers revealed
one of the darkest aspects of the Garou Society. The
Black Spiral Dancers, though their most dangerous
enemies, are only their corrupted version, the Skin
dancers on the other hand are the result of
resentment and abuse. The Skin dancers represent
the Garou's greatest fear: The beings you love most
turn against you and use all your secrets to harm you.
The Skin dancers have a more significant
psychological impact than the Black Spiral Dancers,

 the Wyrm tribe are completely alien to the Garou,
they are monsters without a shred of humanity, the
Skin dancers are the fruit of the toxic relationship
between the Garou and their human kinfolks. The
motivations of the Skin dancers can generate some
sympathy in some players. A Skin Dancer may be an
abandoned child, an abused mother, a person who
was taught to obey without question, the Skin
Dancer was a slave to a society based on a caste system
and now that he is free, he seeks revenge on his
former abusers.
This manual seeks to expand the world of the Skin
Dancers and tell stories full of frustrated desires and
inner demons.
The Skinner
Samuel Haight was an occult relative who spent
much of his life searching for ways to become the

world's most lethal being. In one of his journeys he
discovered a dark ritual to become a true Garou,
when Haight managed to perform this ritual the first
Skin Dancer was born. But, such a title cannot be
held by the Skinner as he was not the one who
created this method, if this ritual already existed it
means that before him there should have been other
e
Skin dancers.
The Garou and possibly other beings from the
World of Darkness made sure to erase all traces of
the Ritual of Sacred Rebirth and thus the Skin

dancers. Needless to say, their efforts have been
futile, the Forbidden Tribe has prevailed in spite of
everything.
But the question remains unanswered, who was the
first Skin Dancer?

Establishing an exact origin of the Sacred Rebirth ritual
is practically impossible, experts have only traced a few
historical moments where some group of kinfolks
would have managed to transform themselves into Skin
dancers. There are many cultures around the world that
tell stories of humans becoming beasts through the use
m
given black wizards the true gift of shape-shifting. That a
mage can transform into something similar to a Garou
is possible, but he lacks all his powers, we are talking
about the benefits of Rage and the titanic strength of
Gaia's champions, this is what many mages yearn to
imitate.
The Garous and other shapeshifters will proudly say that

of witchcraft or with the help of skins from certain
animals.
The warlocks have always been related to the werewolves
because of their powers of transmutation, in fact, in
many cultures these two creatures are considered one
and the same being. The shape-shifting abilities of the
Garou are completely different from those of the Mages,

imitate their powers, but the existence of the Sacred
Rebirth ritual proves the opposite. Although this ritual is
intrinsically related to the Wyrm, it cannot be credited
to its followers since none of them have ever practiced it.
Crazy theories point out that the wizards are involved in
the origin of the sacred rebirth. The following historical

the werewolves can be transformed thanks to their
spiritual heritage and this power is as natural as any other
bodily function. Mages have to perfect their arts in order
to transform themselves into other creatures, this type of
magick is not mastered by just any awakened person and
even expert transmutters cannot compete with true
shape-shifters.
Many mages have tried to emulate the powers of the
Garou and all have failed, some power-hungry have
been forced to deal with dark entities to gain the ability
events could prove these accusations.
The Kingdom of Lycaon
During the time of ancient Greece there was a kingdom
called Arcadia that was ruled by kinfolks of the Shadow
Lords. This kingdom mainly worshipped Zeus, the
Arcadians offered the god ritual hunts and death fights
between soldiers. The inhabitants of this kingdom also
considered the Garou as minor gods related to Zeus-

 Lycaeus, the arcadians proudly gave their children to the
werewolves to reproduce.
Sodales Luperci
In Arcadia there was a priestly caste known as "The
Brotherhood of The Wolf", these priests were sorcerer
kinfolks who worshipped the totem Grandfather
Thunder. This cabal of hedge magicians was in charge
of making sure that the kinfolks generated most of the
time healthy and strong Garou. The sect was under the
command of the Shadow Lords, but despite their loyalty
these Garou did not trust them completely because of
their relationship with sorcery.
Lupercalia
The Brotherhood of The Wolf (Or Lycaean Priests) had
created a ritual to be able to generate Garou more easily
by the Kinfolks. The ritual was celebrated every year
e
during the second week of February, the priests wore
Garous skins fallen heroically in battle, these skins were
voluntarily donated by their owners after their death. By
wearing these skins, the priests were able to pray to the
pl
gods that kinfolks might procreate werewolves. Of
course, the ritual didn't always work, but its effectiveness
was very high. The priests in skins used their magic sticks
to bless the kinfolks, then the ritual ended in an orgy
with the hope that in the end the kinfolks imbued with
this powerful magic managed to impregnate or be
m
impregnated. The Garou born thanks to this ritual were
completely healthy and possessed a certain racial purity,
even though their parents did not have it. As already
mentioned this ritual did not always work, it was 50%
effective, but considering how difficult it is to engender
more Garou this could be considered a miracle.

King Lycaon
Lycaon was the son of a powerful Garou of the Shadow
Lords, in spite of the most powerful spells of the
sorcerers and theurges Lycaon could not be born as a
Garou, although his father and the rest of his
supernatural family never treated him with contempt
Lycaon felt self-conscious in front of them, the king
wished to be like them and Gaia denied him that right.
Motivated by his mother Lycaon dedicated himself to be
a good ruler, Lycaon despite not being a sorcerer was very
educated in the world of occultism, the king was a
fervent believer in Gaia knew well her mysteries.
It is not known why even when the king's heart went
dark, perhaps his hunger for power or envy never
disappeared, Lycaon was determined, he would get
more power and be treated as an equal before the
e
Garou. The king sought help from The Brotherhood of
The Wolf, but the sorcerers insisted that there was no
way anyone could have the same powers as the Garou
and even if there were, doing such a thing would be
fil
considered sacrilege. Lycaon turned a deaf ear and now
furiously ordered the families of the sorcerers to be
captured. If the sorcerers did not find a way to make the
king as powerful as the Garou, Lycaon would order the
execution of his loved ones.
The Brotherhood of The Wolf gave them a period of
one year and during that time they could not see their
families, they would be kept under constant surveillance
and should not say anything to any Garou, not even to
the Alpha. In this part of the story the events are diffuse,
we don't know how, if the sorcerers were skilled enough
to develop the ritual or had some external support, but
the thing is that in about 6 months the sorcerers already
had a solution to the king's problem.
In fact, the sorcerers invented (or discovered) the Ritual
of Sacred Rebirth, Lycaon wanted to learn the ritual and
forced his priests to instruct him, the sorcerers told him
that magic takes time to learn and that not just anyone
can do it, Lycaon was determined and began his mystical
instruction. It took 10 years for Lycaon to master sorcery,
this is considered a great feat by the initiated masters, the
king was already capable of performing the ritual of the
Sacred Rebirth.
Lycaon confided his new knowledge in secret with his
most loyal generals who considered them as his real
children, the king did have children and in fact, one of
them, Nyctimus, was a Garou, but Lycaon was obsessed
with the idea that they were not his and that his wife was
cheating on him with some member of the nobility,
these suspicions were never supported.
Lycaon and his generals managed to keep the Shadow
Lords from suspecting his activities, the king set out to
hunt down any untribed Garou or possible traitor.
Thanks to his new magic arts he influenced the
decisions of the tribe and they let him carry out his
crusade. The generals of Lycaon had learned some

 magic tricks from their king and with this they were able
to collect the skins necessary for their beloved king and
adoptive father to achieve his dream. However,
Nyctimus discovered what his father was about to do
and when he tried to escape he was imprisoned thanks
to the magic of his father who already suspected his son.
Lycaon, already completely crazy, decided to use his son's

skin for the ritual.
With the support of the other soldiers and priests
Lycaon and his generals carried out the ritual of the
Sacred Rebirth in a collective way, such an aberrant act

had an effect on that nation. Lycaon had skinned his
son alive and after this he managed to perform the ritual,
the king along with his adopted sons had become
werewolves.
Lycaon ordered an orgy in the name of his god Zeus, it
is said that in the middle of the celebration a ragged old
man came to the kingdom, as it was tradition at that
time, all the strangers had to be welcomed and offered

hospitality. Lycaon and his generals were suspicious of
the old man, believed him to be a undercover garou and
offered him to eat Nyctimus's own flesh, if the stranger
was not a garou he would not know what he was being
fed. When the old man received the werewolf stew, he
pl
was transformed into a being of pure light. The entity
finally caused a rain of lightning that collapsed the entire
palace, killing all those who lived there. It is not known
who this being was, many say it was the Grandfather
Thunder himself, others say it was a powerful mage
brought by the priests who resisted following the orders
m

of Lycaon and others say that these same priests would

have invoked a powerful spirit of the Wyld who took
over the mad king and his henchmen.

The end of Lycaon is also unknown, it is said that this

entity made him see the terrible sin he had committed
Sa

causing him to enter the state of Harano, the king would

end up wandering in the woods where he would literally
die of sadness. His most faithful followers claim that,
even to this day, Lycaon wanders the world in the form
of Hispo with a completely damaged mind, acting like a
simple animal, the king possibly cursed by Gaia herself
will wander the world until the end of his days.
The generals who survived that event fled Arcadia and
thanks to their new powers took over the nearby
kingdoms, it is believed that each one began to create
their own herds of Skin Dancers. In the face of such a
