1. Make a list of all the memories that Jonas received in this chapter and what did he
learn from each of them!
 - A birthday party  The joy of being an individual, special, unique, and proud.
- Visiting museum  Recognize and name
- Horse riding  Bonds between animal and human
- Sitting beside the campfire  Understanding the solitude and joy apart from the pain of
loss and loneliness.
2. What happened to Jonas after receiving the previous horrible memory from the
Giver?
 He realized that he didn't just feel those things, but he also understand the solitude and joy.
3. What were some of the good memories that were given to Jonas?
 Birthday party, museum visiting, and horse riding.
4. What was the Giver’s favorite memory that was given away?
 Christmas, family, and grandparents.
5. What new feeling did Jonas get to experience?
 He felt something called love.
6. Why did Jonas feel that love would be risky?
 According to Jonas, love destroys the family order.
7. What happened when Gabriel was taken away from Jonas? Why?
 He cried again at night. He was taken away from Jonas because it’s very disturbing and
troublesome for his family.
8. What did Jonas do at the end? Why would he do that?
 He throw the pill away since something that had grown through the memories.
