Describe what you did.

This does not mean that you copy and paste from what you have

posted or the assignments you have prepared. You need to describe what you did and

how you did it.

This week I learned about the introduction to basic of Java programming language. It was

very interesting and challenging. At first, I struggled a bit but it was nothing after I put more

efforts to it. Last term, I had a bad experience with bad time management. Therefore, I made

a schedule based on the urgency and importance of the tasks I had throughout the week. It

includes everything from assignments to personal matters.

Describe your reactions to what you did.

At first, it was difficult to follow my own schedule and I was overwhelmed by assignments. It

was mainly because I had to read multiple times to understand the meaning. But after a few

days I managed to take control of my works and I enjoyed learning new things.

Describe any feedback you received or any specific interactions you had. Discuss how

they were helpful.

I received positive and supporting feedbacks from my first discussion forum post. I love to

read my peers’ post because it helps me to think from different angles and see things from

different perspective. I like how everyone approaches differently to the same problem. It

gives me ideas and the feedbacks are very helpful.

Describe your feelings and attitudes.

I feel grateful to have an opportunity to learn from great peers and I’m very excited to learn

new things with them in this term.

Describe what you learned.

I learnt the basics of Java programming language. I learnt what syntax and semantics mean

and how important they are. I learnt the different between syntax and semantic errors and ran

a few simple programs.

What surprised me or caused me to wonder?

I was surprised to learn that Java was more difficult than Python. The textbook for Java was a

bit more confusing than Python. But I was able to grasp the basic understanding of Java after

trying a bit harder.

What happened that felt particularly challenging? Why was it challenging to me?

The most challenging part for me was installing and using Ecplise IDE for Java Developers.

It was because I was using the outdated Java SE version and the IDE required Java SE 17 or

higher version. Everything was fine after I installed Java SE 17.

What skills and knowledge do I recognize that I am gaining?

I gained how to manage time properly and how to effectively divide a large task into small

pieces. I also gained basic knowledge in Java programming language.

What am I realizing about myself as a learner?

I realized that effective time management is a very important skill for students. I used to

procrastinate a lot and now I’m learning how to control it.

In what ways am I able to apply the ideas and concepts gained to my own experience?

One of the ways I am able to apply the ideas and concepts gained to my own experience is

how to manage time effectively to my full advantage. Another way is how to solve a large

problem by breaking down into small pieces.

Finally, describe one important thing that you are thinking about in relation to the

activity.

One Important thing that I was thinking about in relation to this activity is how important it is

for us to look back and reflect at things we have learnt in this week. We need to ask questions

in a positive way to improve our skills.
