This week, we have to discuss the concept of parameters and difference between

actual and formal parameter with an example in java code. As for the programming

assignment, we have to modify the programming assignment from previous week with

additional methods. We also have to take graded quiz in addition to normal quiz.

 Describe your reactions to what you did.

Submitting the discussion assignment and programming assignments were hard

and I felt challenged at first. But after a series of trials and errors I managed to submit all

of them in time.

 Describe any feedback you received or any specific interactions you had. Discuss how

they were helpful.

The feedbacks I received are mostly positive and encouraging. They were helpful

by allowing me to view from my peer’s perspective.

 Describe your feelings and attitudes.

As the weeks go by, I feel more comfortable writing java programs but I still feel

intimidated and nervous to submit the assignments in time.

 Describe what you learned.

This week, I learnt about the static method and variables. The parameters and

difference between actual and formal parameter. I also learnt how to build better test

projects.

 What surprised me or caused me to wonder?

 In CS 1101, the method is called function and the actual parameter is called

arguments. Therefore, when I first learnt about the method, it reminded me of Python.

 What happened that felt particularly challenging? Why was it challenging to me?

Reading materials are a challenge for me. I usually spend most of my study time

on trying to understand the contents in textbook. It is very time consuming and I need to

find a better way to study.

 What skills and knowledge do I recognize that I am gaining?

I’m getting more and more comfortable with java and now I can use loop more

effectively with method.

 What am I realizing about myself as a learner?

I’m realizing that I need to pay more attention to detail. I like learning new things

but I’m bad at memorizing. I need to do a lot more practices to improve my current

condition.

 In what ways am I able to apply the ideas and concepts gained to my own experience?

I can now build multiple quiz program with multiple questions and a score

system. Based on that I can apply the ideas and concepts gained to make similar

programs and test my limit.
