1. SERVICE PRECAUTIONS
1.1 NOTES ON SOLDERING
For environmental protection, lead-free solder is used on the printed circuit boards mounted in this unit. A
Be sure to use lead-free solder and a soldering iron that can meet specifications for use with lead-free solders for repairs
accompanied by reworking of soldering.
Do NOT use a soldering iron whose tip temperature cannot be controlled.

1.3 SERVICE NOTICE

A
g About the first lot of the control panel part
The cavity part where the aluminum level meter plate is attached on the front side of the control panel part of DJM-S11 is
smaller than the other products in the first lot.
Only the first lot of products used narrower level meter plate.
The aluminum plate and the level meter plate are supplied as the service parts in the regular dimensions.
However, the level meter plate will be supplied as a dedicated part for the first lot of aluminum panels in a narrower width.
If you are replacing only the level meter plate, check to see if the product is the first lot.
On the other hand, the aluminum panel and the level meter plate used in DJM-S11-SE are not different by lot.

g Voltage monitoring
B
This unit always monitors for power failure and will shut itself off immediately after an error is detected.
If a power is defect, SMOOTH ECHO ON (WAKE UP) LED is flashing.
Other LEDs light off, and SW and VR become not working.
Repair the unit according to the diagnostic procedures described in "5.4 DETECTION OF ABNORMAL POWER-SUPPLY
VOLTAGES."

g Confirmation of User Setting Data

This product has user-settable items, which are set in UTILITY mode.
Be sure to confirm those data before starting repair, although changing them may not have a large effect.
Use the Check Sheet in “8.3 USER SETABLE ITEMS,” to which you can transcribe the settings, as required.
C The settings are stored in Flash ROM (IC1401) on the MAIN Assy.
For details, refer to "Changing the settings" in the Instruction Manual.

g Calibration of the crossfader

The crossfader of this unit is calibrated on the production line.
After you replace the corresponding part(s), be sure to perform calibration of the part(s) in question.
For details on the specific parts for which recalibration is required, see "8.1 NECESSARY ITEMS TO BE NOTED."
See "6.2 CROSSFADER CALIBRATION" for details on how to calibrate.
Without calibration, sound of a channel may leak, even when the crossfader is moved to its end position, where sound of that
channel should be muted.
D

g Calibration of the touch panel

The touch panel of this unit is calibrated on the production line.
After you replace the corresponding part(s), be sure to perform calibration of the part(s) in question.
For details on the specific parts for which recalibration is required, see "8.1 NECESSARY ITEMS TO BE NOTED."
See "Touch panel Calibration Mode" in "6.1 TEST MODE_@ Touch panel test/calibration mode" for details on how to calibrate.
Touch panel does not work normally when you do not calibrate it.

E g About replacing the LED on the control panel

When replacing an LED on the control panel, be sure to check that there is no significant difference in color or brightness
between the LED and the surrounding LEDs of the same color after it is replaced.
If there is a difference, replace the other LEDs together and make sure there is no difference.

g SW POWER SUPPLY Primary side electrical shock A

The primary side of SW POWER SUPPLY remains voltage long time even after the Power cord is unpluged, and the primary
solder side can be seen.
So if you touch the primary solder side, it is possible to receive an electrical shock.
There is the red area below where we tend to receive an electrical shock.
Be sure to discharge the voltage of primary side to avoid receiving the electrical shock.

Electrical shock area of A-side.

Electrical shock area of B-side.

When discharging the above point, use the following discharge jig as needed.

While the charging voltage is left of both C4 and C5, either of checking LEDs turns on.
The both of LED turns off and then discharging is completed, we can avoid receiving the electrical shock!!

polarity

The circuit of "discharge JIG" is shown below.

! Resister is all 10 kΩ (3W)
! Both of LED is LTL17KRH5D

F
When there is no above type LED, take measures the following method.
Step 1: After the power is turned off, wait 2 minutes.
Step 2: Connect the Register Jig and leave the unit as it is, for 10 seconds.

5.4 DETECTION OF ABNORMAL POWER-SUPPLY VOLTAGES

A The PANEL UCOM (IC6102) of this unit always monitors various power voltages, current of the LED power, current of
the LCD backlight power and will shut the unit off immediately after an error is detected.

g Content to be monitored
A voltage abnormality, such as a voltage drop or voltage rise in any of the various power supply ICs in the MAIN Assy is
monitored. And overcurrent of the LED power, LCD backlight power caused by the short-circuit is monitored.

g Restoration method
If the unit shuts itself off because of error detection, after completing diagnosis unplug the power cord.
Then, plug the power cord in after a while then turn the unit back on.

g Diagnostic procedure
! Check that each power supply IC is not short-circuited to GND.
! Because power voltage monitoring starts about 2 seconds after the unit is turned on, check each power-supply IC before
voltage monitoring starts.
F
! If checking of all power-supply ICs cannot be finished before voltage monitoring starts and the unit shuts itself off, turn the
unit back on, following the procedure described in "Restoration method" above, then continue checking. Repeat this until
checking of all power-supply ICs is completed.

Rotary selectors (BROWSE Knob)

Rotational operations (clockwise and counterclockwise) of the rotary selectors can be checked, using the multicolor LEDs of
the Performance Pads. The specifications are common to CH1 and CH2.

When Keys and Switches Confirmation mode is started, the 8 Pads light on in purple.
Clockwise turning of the rotary selector lights off the red LEDs and counterclockwise turning lights off the blue LEDs;
thus, turning it clockwise changes the PAD's color to blue and turning it counterclockwise changes the color to red.
Clockwise turning starts lighting off the red LEDs from Pad 3 to Pad 2 clockwise. D
Counterclockwise turning starts lighting off the blue LEDs from Pad 2 to Pad 3 counterclockwise.
When the rotary selector is fully turned clockwise or counterclockwise, all LEDs of all Pads light off.

If any of the above errors is occurred, the HOT CUE and ROLL buttons and the pad that corresponds to the error reason will
light on in red. In such a case, no operation will be available. Turn the unit OFF then retry from the beginning.
If the error persists even after performing the Calibration 1 procedures again from the beginning, the crossfader may be in failure.
Repair the crossfader, referring to "The crossfader functions abnormally" in "5.3 TROUBLESHOOTING", then perform
