Analysis of a Research Study

Q1. Participant Protection

In the research study, participants were assured of protection by the researchers.

Information shared would not be passed to unauthorized people (University of Waterloo, n.d.).

They were also assured that questions will not ask about their personal details or include their

credentials.

Q2. Participants selection

Participants in the study were selected randomly from the target community. The

approach ensured there is fairness and the selected people represented the entire population in the

area (Dijkstra et al., 2022). The method could be questioned since there could be more males

than females and vice versa, hence no gender equality in the study.

Q3. Participants’ vulnerability

The study used a group of patients and their families. Therefore, the group of participants

could be considered vulnerable since they were in pain while the information they shared could

be used for the researcher's gain. Participants were also desperate to overcome their health

complications and they were ready to share anything asked.

Q4. Exposure to harm

Since the study used patients as their participants, they ensured no harm or pain was

exposed to the team. This was achieved by providing interview questions in their locations, in

the hospital and at home. Therefore, patients did not struggle or strain to achieve the researcher's

demands.

Q5. Protecting the privacy and confidentiality of participants

The study clearly shows how they protected participants' privacy and confidentiality.

They stated that in the interviews, participants were not requested to add personal details such as

names. Additionally, they were assured that the information they shared would only be used for

that project purpose and could not be shared with other parties.
