Flamingo Friendships People often say that "birds of a feather flock 1[alone / together]."
2[According to / Instead of] scientists, this is true for flamingos. Flamingos are birds that live in
tropical 3[places / converts]. They are known for their 4[identical / unique] look. They have
5[bright / dull] pink feathers, thin legs, and long s-shaped necks. Flamingos are 6[political /
social] and live in flocks. Sometimes, there can be thousands of birds in a(n) 7[single / multiple]
flock. For over five years, some British scientists 8[stumbled / studied] flamingos. They 9[violated
/ observed] how the pink birds formed relationships within their flock. The scientists learned that
each flamingo had a small 10[piece / group] of friends. Even 11[outsied / inside] a large flock, it
only hung out with a handful if birds. These friends stayed nearby and were "within a neck's
12[weight / length]" from each other. Also, the friendships almost 13[always / never] lasted a
lifetime. Furthermore, the British scientists found that personality was 14[important / unessential]
to the friendships of flamingos. For example, 15[bold / brave] and outgoing flamingos made
friends with other aggressive birds. Shy and quiet birds preferred companions with 16[diverse /
similar] personalities. 17[However / In addition], the scientists said the bond of friendship was
very important to all flamingos, regardless of personality. They protected each other whenever
their group was 18[threatened / justified]. Children's day Founder Every May 5, Korea
19[celebrates / approaches] Children's Day. It is a day for 20[children / ancestors] to have a
good time. They 21[inform / receive] gifts and go to fun places with their parents. In Korea,
Children's Day was 22[created / determined] 100 years ago. The special day was the idea of an
activist named Bang Jeong - hwan. Back then, children were 23[floated / treated] with little
respect. Most adults only believed in strict discipline to 24[raise / lower] them. Bang disagreed
with this 25[fact / opinion]. The activist strongly fought for children's rights. He believed that
children were the hope for a better 26[past / future]. Bang worked to make children's literature
27[less / more] available. He even 28[published / abolished] Korea's first magazine for children. In
1922, Bang and other activists 29[assumed / announced] the founding of Children's Day. Then, on
May 1, 1923, they 30[smashed / held] Children's Day events for the first time. 31[Unfortunately /
Fortunately], Children's Day was not always allowed during the Japanese colonial period. It only
32[collapsed / started] to be properly celebrated nationwide on May 5 1946. Now, it is a very
special day for Korean children and their families. Busking in Cities Busking is a type of musical
performance. It is when musicians 33[perform / exclude] in public places and get paid through
donations. The street performances take 34[place / convert] in city squares, subway stations, and
even on the side of the street. However, some people 35[complain about / complete] allowing
buskers in cities. They 36[sat / stood] that such performances are inappropriate in public places.
Not everyone enjoys listening to loud music when they are outside. With buskers, people would
/ static]. Tourists can also be attracted by the cultural 44[experience / attempt]. Furthermore,
these supports say that busking is held in places with plenty 45[span / space]. It does not take
place in overly crowded 46[reveal / areas]. This way, the street performers do not get in the way
of pedestrians and 47[cause / damage] problems. Bluetooth Bluetooth technology connects
digital 48[advice / devices] with each other. For 49[example / exemption], it connects wireless
earphones to smartphones. Then, why is it called Bluetooth? There is an interesting story 50[ahead
/ behind] the name. The technology was 51[developed / destroyed] in the 1990's. Engineers in
Sweden and the United States worked 52[together / separately] on it. Some of the engineers
loved to 53[take / talk] about history. One day, they 54[proposed / discussed] King Harald
Gormsson. King Harald 55[ruled / contradicted] Denmark in the 10th century. This ruler 56[loved /
hated] to eat blueberries. He ate so much of the fruit that his teeth turned blue. So, his nickname
was Bluetooth. But more importantly, King Harald famously 57[united / isolated] his country with
its neighbor, Norway. The union of the two countries 58[lasted / halted] for about 900 years. The
engineers were 59[depressed / impressed] with King Harald. At that time, the engineers were
trying to unite and 60[connect / disconnect] digital devices. So, they felt they had something in
61[unique / common] with him. This is why the new technology was named 62[after / before]
King Harald. Also, the Bluetooth logo was 63[prevented / inspired] by the King. The logo
combines two letters of the 64[present / ancient] Nordic alphabet. These letters are the initials of
Harald Bluetooth. Express Pass at Amusement Park Many people go to 65[annoyance /
amusement] parks with their friends and families. There, they 66[wait / stay] in line to get on
roller coasters, Viking ships, and other popular rides. At some amusement parks, people can pay
extra and 67[sell / buy] express passes. Then, they can 68[moan / move] to the front of the line.
They can get on the rides 69[without / including] waiting. Some people are 70[miserable /
happy] to buy the express passes. They say that 71[blaming / waiting] in line takes too much
time. With the express passes, they can enjoy 72[few / many] more amusement rides. So, the
extra charge for the 73[affect / express] passes is worth it. Also, these people point out that
74[almost / just] all companies offer upgrades. In other words, customers can pay extra to get
75[worse / better] service. So, amusement parks should be 76[pretended / allowed] to provide a
similar deal. However, other people are 77[against / for] the express passes. These critics say that
all visitors buy expensive tickets to 78[exit / enter] amusement parks. They deserve to be treated
79[briefly / equally] and fairly. So, it is 80[fair / unfair] to give special treatment to a small
number of visitors. Furthermore, these critics say the express passes teach children a bad 81[moral
/ illegal] lesson. They learn that if they 82[load / pay] money, skipping lines is okay. But if
everyone waits in line patiently, the children will learn about 83[fairness / bias]. Van Gogh Alive

strict discipline to raise them. Bang disagreed with this opinion. The activist strongly fought for
children's rights. He believed that children were the hope for a better future. Bang worked to
make children's literature more available. He even published Korea's first magazine for children. In
1922, Bang and other activists announced the founding of Children's Day. Then, on May 1, 1923,

scientists, this is true for flamingos. Flamingos are birds that live in tropical places. They are

Flamingos are social and live in flocks. Sometimes, there can be thousands of birds in a single

birds formed relationships within their flock. The scientists learned that each flamingo had a small
group of friends. Even inside a large flock, it only hung out with a handful if birds. These friends
stayed nearby and were "within a neck's length" from each other. Also, the friendships almost
