Flamingo Friendships People often say that "birds of a feather flock 1[alone / together]."
2[According to / Instead of] scientists, this is true for flamingos. Flamingos are birds that live in
tropical 3[places / converts]. They are known for their 4[unique / identical] look. They have
5[bright / dull] pink feathers, thin legs, and long s-shaped necks. Flamingos are 6[political /
social] and live in flocks. Sometimes, there can be thousands of birds in a(n) 7[single / multiple]
flock. For over five years, some British scientists 8[stumbled / studied] flamingos. They
9[observed / violated] how the pink birds formed relationships within their flock. The scientists
learned that each flamingo had a small 10[group / piece] of friends. Even 11[outsied / inside] a
large flock, it only hung out with a handful if birds. These friends stayed nearby and were "within
a neck's 12[weight / length]" from each other. Also, the friendships almost 13[never / always]
lasted a lifetime. Furthermore, the British scientists found that personality was 14[important /
unessential] to the friendships of flamingos. For example, 15[bold / brave] and outgoing
flamingos made friends with other aggressive birds. Shy and quiet birds preferred companions
with 16[similar / diverse] personalities. 17[However / In addition], the scientists said the bond of
friendship was very important to all flamingos, regardless of personality. They protected each
other whenever their group was 18[threatened / justified]. Children's day Founder Every May 5,
Korea 19[celebrates / approaches] Children's Day. It is a day for 20[children / ancestors] to have
a good time. They 21[receive / inform] gifts and go to fun places with their parents. In Korea,
Children's Day was 22[created / determined] 100 years ago. The special day was the idea of an
activist named Bang Jeong - hwan. Back then, children were 23[floated / treated] with little
respect. Most adults only believed in strict discipline to 24[lower / raise] them. Bang disagreed
with this 25[fact / opinion]. The activist strongly fought for children's rights. He believed that
children were the hope for a better 26[past / future]. Bang worked to make children's literature
27[less / more] available. He even 28[abolished / published] Korea's first magazine for children. In
1922, Bang and other activists 29[announced / assumed] the founding of Children's Day. Then, on
May 1, 1923, they 30[smashed / held] Children's Day events for the first time. 31[Unfortunately /
Fortunately], Children's Day was not always allowed during the Japanese colonial period. It only
32[started / collapsed] to be properly celebrated nationwide on May 5 1946. Now, it is a very
special day for Korean children and their families. Busking in Cities Busking is a type of musical
performance. It is when musicians 33[exclude / perform] in public places and get paid through
donations. The street performances take 34[place / convert] in city squares, subway stations, and
even on the side of the street. However, some people 35[complain about / complete] allowing
buskers in cities. They 36[stood / sat] that such performances are inappropriate in public places.
Not everyone enjoys listening to loud music when they are outside. With buskers, people would
/ moral] lesson. They learn that if they 82[load / pay] money, skipping lines is okay. But if
everyone waits in line patiently, the children will learn about 83[bias / fairness]. Van Gogh Alive

전국적으로 제대로 기념하기 시작했어요. 이제 어린이날은 대한민국 어린이와 그 가족들에게 매우 특별한 날입니다.

(A) Express Pass at Amusement Park Many people go to amusement parks with their friends and
families. There, they wait in line to get on roller coasters, Viking ships, and other popular rides. At
some amusement parks, people can pay extra and buy express passes. Then, they can move to
the front of the line. They can get on the rides without waiting. Some people are happy to buy
the express passes. They say that waiting in line takes too much time. With the express passes,
they can enjoy many more amusement rides. So, the extra charge for the express passes is worth
it. Also, these people point out that almost all companies offer upgrades. In other words,
customers can pay extra to get better service. So, amusement parks should be allowed to provide
a similar deal. However, other people are against the express passes. These critics say that all
visitors buy expensive tickets to enter amusement parks. They deserve to be treated equally and
fairly. So, it is unfair to give special treatment to a small number of visitors. Furthermore, these
critics say the express passes teach children a bad moral lesson. They learn that if they pay
money, skipping lines is okay. But if everyone waits in line patiently, the children will learn about
fairness. Van Gogh Alive Vincent Van Gogh was a famous painter from Netherlands. His paintings
are in major museums around the world. They are full of impressive colors and brushstrokes. On
top of that, there is a traveling exhibition called "Van Gogh Alive." It is a fun and interesting way
to enjoy Van Gogh's artwork. The exhibition was launched in Singapore in 2011. Now, it is on a
tour around the world. Earlier this year, it opened in the United Kingdom and Thailand. The
exhibition includes many of Van Gogh's artworks, but they are not hanging on the wall. Instead,
there are many projectors in the gallery. These projectors display images of Van Gogh's paintings
on the walls, floors, and ceilings. This way, visitors can stand inside Van Gogh's art. They can feel
the colors and brushstrokes come alive. The visitors can imagine that they are part of
"Sunflowers," "Starry Night," and other famous paintings. There is even a recreation of the Dutch
artist's bedroom. "We want to surround people with the art," said an organizer of the exhibition.
"Then, they can appreciate Van Gogh in a new way." (3)
(B) People often say that "birds of a feather flock together." According to scientists, this is true for
flamingos. Flamingos are birds that live in tropical places. They are known for their unique look.
They have bright pink feathers, thin legs, and long s-shaped necks. Flamingos are social and live
in flocks. Sometimes, there can be thousands of birds in a single flock. For over five years, some
British scientists studied flamingos. They observed how the pink birds formed relationships within
their flock. The scientists learned that each flamingo had a small group of friends. Even inside a
large flock, it only hung out with a handful if birds. These friends stayed nearby and were "within

These friends stayed nearby and were "within a neck's length" from each other. Also, the
friendships almost always lasted a lifetime. Furthermore, the British scientists found that
personality was important to the friendships of flamingos. For example, bold and outgoing

strict discipline to raise them. Bang disagreed with this opinion. The activist strongly fought for
children's rights. He believed that children were the hope for a better future. Bang worked to
make children's literature more available. He even published Korea's first magazine for children. In
1922, Bang and other activists announced the founding of Children's Day. Then, on May 1, 1923,
they held Children's Day events for the first time. Unfortunately, Children's Day was not always
allowed during the Japanese colonial period. It only started to be properly celebrated nationwide
on May 5 1946. Now, it is a very special day for Korean children and their families. Busking in
