Subject: Heavy Duty Heat Exchanger Upgrade Kit

Product: TDS-11SA, TDS-11HP, and TDS-10SH Top Drive Drilling Systems

Affected TDS-11SA Motor Housing Assembly (P/Ns 10663714 and 120900), TDS-
11HP Motor Housing Assembly (P/N 30153045), and TDS-10SH Motor Drill
Assembly (P/N M614001213)

Objective: Advise users of Heavy Duty Heat Exchanger Upgrade Kit

Issue: NOV has received isolated reports of corrosion and cracking with the Oil
Heat Exchanger (P/N 30122104) used on TDS-11SA, TDS-11HP, and
TDS-10SH Top Drive Systems when drilling in harsh environmental
conditions.

Solution: NOV’s heat exchanger supplier has recently introduced a custom heat
exchanger with a proprietary “long life” aluminum. The new design of heat
exchanger also has several packaging improvements making it resistant to
external damage. NOV is going to this improved heat exchanger on new
production equipment and has developed an optional heat exchanger
upgrade kit for the TDS-11SA, TDS-11HP, and TDS-10SH Top Drives.
Each kit contains the heat exchanger, tube assemblies, and installation
instructions.

The TDS-11HP kit can be purchased with a new Intake Cover (30153061-
502), or the existing Intake Cover (30153061-500) can be reused by drilling
two additional holes to match the port locations of the new heat exchanger,
see Figure 2. This information is given on the drawing, which is with the kit.
