Five days Chimpanzee & Gorilla Trekking Tour

Our 5 days Chimpanzees & Gorilla Trek in Rwanda gives you the best opportunity to visit
Nyunhgwe National Park for Chimpanzeee Trekking tour and a canopy walk tour. You will also
pass through the cultural heritage cordor stopping at King Mutara III Rudahigwa’s 1931 royal
palace museum. Proceed to Volcanoes National Park, a home world over known for Mountain
Gorillas. Trek girillas in Rwanda and visit the Golden Monkeys. Trekking to see the Mountain
gorillas & trek Golden Monkeys is an absolute highlight in Rwanda and specifically in the
Volcanoes National Park.

Day 1: Leave Kigali – Nyungwe National Park (Travel Time around 6 hours)

07:00 Ealy morning departure for Nyungwe National Park in the South western region of
Rwanda. En-route we pass through the Cultura Heritage corridor stopping at King Mutara III
Rudahigwa’s 1931 royal palace museum, standing today as ut was many decades ago woth the
‘Inyambo’ trandional Rwanda cowns know for their impressive long horns. Arriving at One &
Onely Nyungwe House or Nyungwe Top View Lodge for your lunch take a great outdoors
activity to vist the tean plantations of Gisakura.

Allow our motivating guide to lead you on a kinetic workout through the leafy tracks
surrounding the tea plantation. The natural landscape is the only equipment you’ll need for this
jungle-style boot camp. Take an experience of tea from crop to cup.

Overnight stay at One & Only Nyungwe House (Luxury facility)/Nyungwe Top View Lodge (Mid-
range facility) and have dinner.

Day2: Chimpanzee trek and Canopy Walk Experience

At 05h00 you get your packed breakfast and drive to the park headquarters for chimpanzee
trek briefing and formalties and then to the evergreen forest for a great experience that starts
at 6h00. You may spot a wide variety of bird life. Dashing at high speed through the flora,
hooting and clanging – it’s a truly exhilarating experience to encounter chimpanzees playing,
wild and free.

Home to one of East Africa’s last intact chimpanzee populations, Nyungwe National Park is an
ideal place to observe chips in their natural habitat. Most active in the morning, an early rise is
required for maximum viewing opportunity, and a beautifully prepared breakfast will be enjoyed
‘on the go’. Allow experienced, expert trackers to guide you on a deep forest trail, learning
about these fascinating creatures and the enchanting forest that call home.

Return to the lodge at around 11h00. By 12h30: have an early lunch. We will transfer you to
the park headquarters for canopy walk briefing that takes place at 14h00. Your guided canopy
walk will start at 15h00. Experience the rainforest from a dazzling new perspective – on the
famous Canopy Walkway.

The only walk of its kind in East Africa, this breathtaking construction hangs 60 metres above
the forest floor between giant trees and towers, revealing a stunning view of the flora and
fauna, both below and above. An iconic experience, not to be missed. Return to the lodge later
in the evening. We will have a traditional tea ceremony.
Overnight stay at One & Only Nyungwe House (Luxury facility)/Nyungwe Top View Lodge (Mid-
range facility) and have diner.

Day 3: Leave Nyungwe – Volcanoes National Park (Travel Time about 6 hours).

Breakfast at the Lodge, settlement of extras and check out for a transfer to Volcanoes National
Park via Gisenyi.

A stopover at Kivu Serena Hotel you will depart for Gisenyi and have lunch at Lake Kivu Serena.
After lunch be transferred to the northwest corner pf the country to Volcanoes National Park.
Arrive in the evening and check in at the Lodge. Arrive in the evening around 16h00.

Dinner and overnight stay at One & Only Gorilla’s Nest Lodge/Bisate Lodge/Singita Lodge
(Luxury facilities)/Five volcanoes Lodge/Amakoro Songa Lodge/Virunga Inn Resorts & Spa (Mid-
range facilities).

Day 4: Gorilla trekking Day & Cultural experience

Early morning transfer at the park headquarters, arrive in time for briefing before your start
your guided walk at 08h00 in search of the gorillas. The Volcanoes National Park is a forested
area in the Virunga Mountains that border Rwanda, Uganda and the Democratic Republic of the
Congo. This is Rwanda’s premier tourist attraction, with the mist-covered volcanoes of the
Virunga being one of only two locations in the world where you can track a habituated family
group of mountain gorillas.

The high point will be spending an hour with the remarkably peaceful gorillas despite their size
and appearance as they go about their daily life, feeding, playing, resting and raising their
young.

After this memorable experience, you will return to the lodge for lunch followed by brief rest.

This afternoon, you will visit the Iby’Iwacu Village for cultural experience. While mots of the
focus of the Volcanoes National Park falls squarely onto the animals, this ‘cultural village’ puts
the spotlight back onto the people.

Visitors get to experience Rwanda village life by grinding seeds, firing bows and arrows, taking
park in a traditional intore dance and even partaking in the marriage of a king to his queen.
After this amazing experience, you will descend from the mountains.

Dinner and overnight stay at the selected accommodation facility.

Day 5: Golden Monkey Trek and drive to Kigali City

An early breakfast sets you up for a full day of discovery. You’ll journey to the park
headquarters for the Golden Monkey trek briefing at 7am, before being taken to the head of the
trail, ready for your guided walk at 8am. The amazing trekking process usually takes around 4
hours, and once you come to the habituated monkey families, you will spend a fascinating hour
with them as they go about daily life.

Trekking to see the golden Monkyes is an absolute highlight of Volcanoes National Park. The
Golden Monkey (Cercopithecus Mitis Kandti) is a local subspecies of the widespread Sykes
Monkey, also known as the ‘Blue Monkey’ ad is endemic to the high altitude forests. The
monkeys are playful and inquisitive and often spend their time leaping from bamboo branches
of frolicking on the forest floor. There ae two habituated groups of Golden monkey, one group
comprises around 80 – 100 members. With its home at the foot of Mount Sabyinyo.

You will then proceed on a tour of Kigali City (Optional City Tour) that includes the Kigali
Genocide Memorial center and the Inema arts center. Lunch will be at the a selected restaurant
in Kigali.

Learn about Rwanda’s history from pre-colonial times to the 1994 genocide; learn about other
genocides I the world and how this country has dealt with that past. You will then be
transferred to the Kigali International Airport. Bid farewell to your driver guide and proceed to
check in for your outbound flight.
