Concepts of Project Management – Tutorial Question

In the face of falling reserves of traditional resources such as oil and gas, the Government of
DI Country is investigating alternative sources of energy production. One project it has just
initiated is to explore the feasibility of using new technologies that use wind power to
generate energy. This would involve the construction of a large-scale wind farm which would
consist of one hundred wind turbines which are big, noisy and unattractive structures. If the
project goes ahead, location identified for the wind farm is one of the country’s most
picturesque and beautiful national parks.

The next stage of the project is the assess the feasibility of the wind farm project.

Required:
Explain the purpose of project feasibility, making reference to the different types of
feasibility studies that should be undertaken for the wind farm project.

The project that DI Country are needed to explore is the feasibility of using new technologies
that use wind power to generate Energy. The purpose of the project feasibility to ensure the
project using the wind power to generate energy are not affecting the daily life activities of
the surrounding. The project will involve a large-scale construction wind farm that consist of
one hundred wind turbines. This large-scale construct will affecting the nearest village as it
will loud and unattractive structure.

There will be 3 feasibility studies for the wind farm project. Which consist of Technical
Feasibility, Environmental Feasibility and Financial Feasibility.

Technical Feasibility – DI Country need to ensure the wind turbine technology are available
and up to date. The installation and the testing of the wind turbine must be done before the
large-scale project started. The management need to ensure the wind turbine
maintenances are the priority as it will ensure the project are working well. As it is a large-
scale project the management need to ensure all the technology are available at the same
time. Technical Feasibility can be achieved.
