The ‘appropriate terminal and any accesseries will be shipped separately. Verity that fequired accessories are available before unpacking and installing the base. The CB/CB Utlra base should remain in iis shipping coron until it reaches the location where it will be installed for maximum protection during transit. Inspection and setup © Examine the shipping box for any signs of damage. If damage is found, make a claim with the carrier immediately. ‘© Open the box and remove the scale assembly, place the scale assembly (on a stable flat surface, ‘© Moke sure all components are insluded. The CB/CBU base should contain > Weighing platform with stainless steel platform and level > CBICBU base echnical manual and user's guide. > Leveling foot wrench. AAWARNING! ‘The CB6OX, CB150X and CBU scale base are ‘approved for use in hazardous environments. If you plan fo use a CB/CBU scale base in hazardous environments, the factory number must have an “x” immediately following the —= capacity number. All other models ore NOT ‘approved for hazardous environments. Level the Base ZZ ASS ie —_ Once the CB/CBUX scale base is in place, level it by performing these steps: 21 © Turn the leveling feet of the weighing plotform until the scale is horizontal. The leveling feet should each touch the surface on which the CB/CBU scale bose is placed, and the CB/CBU scale base should not rock or teeter. ‘© Check fo make sure the level butble is centered as shown here © <— LEVEL © Use the wrench included with the CB/CB Ultra base fo *jam* the lock nut on each foot against the bottom of the base to keep the foot from moving, © You must re-level the CB/CBU base afler every location change. Load Cell Wiring Refer to the below information for the load cell cable color code: Wire color signal description GRN +810 BLU +SEN WHT +816 Bare CGND RED “SIG BRN “SEN BLK “EXO $$ Calibration Refer to the calibration procedure outlined in the technical manual for the terminal you are using To guarantee reliable service from CBICB Ultra scole base, a regular calibration schedule should be implemented. In addition, the base should always be calibrated afler repairs of any type are performed. Contact your authorized METTLER TOLEDO representative for more information. 22 Operation Instructions The operating instructions for the CB/CB Ultra scale base depend on the terminal with wich its used, as well as on the specific application for which itis being Used. Refer fo the operating instructions or technical manual for the terminal being used with the CB/CB Ultra base. The following general instructions should be followed for all applications and terminals to ensure the best weighing performance for the scale. Location. © The CB/CB Ultra base should be placed on a solid surface that is free of ‘excessive vibration and in an area tree of drafts and sudden temperature changes. © The area should be clear of cables, boxes, or anything else that could come in contact with the scale platform. The platform itself should be kept free of dust, dirt, and water ‘Accuracy. For optimum weighing performance, place objects to be weighed towards the center of the platform. Calibration. Contact your authorized METTLER TOLEDO representative to arrange scheduled calibration visits by factory-trained service technicians. Shock loads. The CB/BC Ultra soale base is designed fo withstand overload conditions up fo 150% capacity without affecting the scale's weighing performance. However, comparable weights dropped trom a distance onto the weighing platform may cause forces far higher than the acceptable overload capacity and damage the CBICB Ulta base's intemal components or affect its accuracy. Avoid dropping ‘weight onto the platform. Large Temperature Fluctuations. When connected to @ METTLER TOLEDO terminal, the CB/CBU base ulomatically compensates for normal changes in ambient temperature. If the soale base is used in areas where large or fast temperature changes occur, weighing accuracy may be affected. In these situations, wail approximately 30 minutes fo allow the CB/BC Uttra base to adjust to temperature changes before weighing Weighing Practices. ‘© Avoid sliding heavy items across the platform to help prevent scuffing ‘© Always use proper lifing devices and practices for loading and unloading the scale. Avoid moving heavy jlems fo the edge of the platform to get a 31 32 better grip for liting. Edge loading can tip the platform and lead to personal injury. 4 Service and Maintenance Troubleshooting If operational difficulties are encounterad, first obtain as much information as possible regarding the problem. Failures and maltunctions offen may be traced to simple causes such as loose connections, low battery power, or improper setup. Additional troubleshooting is best performed by substitution. A PCB or load cell believed to be defective may be checked by replacing the suspect part ‘with known good part and then observing whether the problem is corrected. Parts Replacement and Adjustments IAN WARNING DISCONNECT ALL POWER TO THIS UNIT BEFORE INSTALLING, SERVICING, CLEANING, OR REMOVING THE FUSE. FAILURE TO DO SO ‘COULD RESULT IN BOCILY HARM AND/OR PROPERTY DAMAGE. CAUTION BEFORE CONNECTING OR DISCONNECTING ANY INTERNAL ELECTRONIC COMPONENTS OR INTERCONNECTING WIRING BETWEEN ELECTRONIC EQUIPMENT, ALWAYS REMOVE POWER ‘AND WAIT AT LEAST THIRTY (30) SECONDS. FAILURE TO OBSERVE THESE PRECAUTIONS ‘COULD RESULT IN DAMAGE TO OR DESTRUCTION OF THE EQUIPMENT, OR BODILY HARM. Load Cell Replacement 1. Disconnect the power. Remove the stainless steel platform from the base. 3. Loosen and remove the top load cell mounting bolts that secure the top frame to the load cell 4, Sot the top frame and the load cell spacer aside. 5. Tum the CB/CBU scale on its side to access the bottom load cell bolt. 6. Loosen and remove the bottom load cell mounting bolts. 7. Remove the load cell from the base 8. Reinstall a new load cell by following the steps above in reverse order 9. Using a torque wrench, tighten the load cell mounting bolls to the specifications shown in Table. 41 MODEL METRIC_| ENGLISH (CB6,CB15,CB30,CB60(X), CBEOL,CB150(X) CBU6X, CBU15X, CBUSOX, CBUGOX, CBUGOLX, CBUI5OX B300,CB600,CBU300X 30.N-m | 22 fhbs 1ON-m | 7.5 fhbs 10.
