18-DAY CAMPAIGN TO END VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN AND THEIR


CHILDREN
PAROL MAKING CONTEST

A. OBJECTIVE

The Republic Act 9262 otherwise known as the Anti-Violence Against


Women and their Children Act protects women and children from all forms of
violence. The VAWC Law is an important legal framework that aims to ensure
the safety and security of women and children in the Philippines.

This year’s campaign on Anti- Violence Against Women and their


Children will be highlighted with a “Parol Making Contest: THE PARADE OF
HOPE” with the theme "UNITED for a VAW-free Philippines".

The contest will be in line with the 18-day Campaign to End Violence
Against Women and their Children which aims to raise awareness on the
problem of violence and the elimination of all forms of violence against women
and their children.

B. GUIDELINES AND MECHANICS OF THE CONTEST

1. There must be at least TWO entries in each section.


2. The Parol should be in line with the 18- day campaign to end violence
women and their children theme, "UNITED for a VAW-free Philippines."
3. It can be of any shape, and design.
4. A dimension of 40 inches in diameter (excluding the tail and the pole)
5. It should be made of any indigenous or recycled materials only or
combination of both.
6. Spray paint and the like is allowed. Adhere to the colors of VAWC,
violet and orange.
7. Lighting is required to enhance the visual effect of the parol. However,
candles and live fires are not permissible. Use of solar or battery
operated is highly encouraged. (Always remember: Please refrain from

using substandard materials and practice precaution to prevent any
untoward incident such as electrical overload)
8. It must be capable of being hung or propped up in a pole.
9. It must be hand-made, and MUST BE CREATED INSIDE THE
SCHOOL PREMISES ONLY. No commercially made parol shall be
entered in the contest.

C. DEADLINE OF SUBMISSION

a. Date of submission: December 07, 2023, at 12:00 noon


b. Place of submission: SVIS PTA Gymnasium

D. CRITERIA FOR JUDGING

Relevance to the theme - 30 points


Earth Friendly (Use of locally available materials) - 20 points
Originality and Symbolism - 20 points
Artistry, Creativity and Over-all appearance - 15 points
Workmanship and Durability - 15 points
Total: 100 points

***The decision of the judges will be final and irrevocable.

F. Disqualification

a. Use of prohibited materials


b. Non-compliance in any items of the Guideline and Mechanics

Note: The participant is responsible for the Parol's maintenance as well as its removal
and proper disposal outside the school premises by January 03, 2023.
