Anatomy has the most entrenched history and thus forms the basis of medicine. It is the science
that examines the normal shape, structure and function of the human body in accordance to the
framework of clinical features. In our department, anatomy is explained in detailed by sub-
classifications such as topographic anatomy, systematic anatomy, clinical anatomy, radiological and
neuroanatomy and embryology .Theoretical lectures are braced with the laboratory applications
wherein the training is provided with a large portfolio of models organs and traditional cadavers. Our
vision as a department is to educate and train phase-I students who have the mission to present their
scientific skills in accordance with ethical principles and critical analytical thinking who in future will
represent our institution at national as well as international levels.
The department imparts basic and clinical knowledge to medical undergraduates as well as
paramedical students of various streams to enable them to understand the basis of medical sciences.
The department is a recognized embalming centre by the govt of India. It provides embalming
services to enable the transportation of bodies.
Academic curriculum involves conducting integrated seminars for students in collaboration with
other departments.
Department is well equipped with teaching and nonteaching staff. It has illustrious museum,
dissection hall, histology lab and a research lab.
Small group teaching is emphasized. More interactive lectures through smart classes and
student participation is encouraged
VISION / MISSION
To conduct various hands on cadaveric training workshops in collaboration with surgical and
radiological departments
Make the department as a centre for voluntary body donation.
Establishment of medical cytogenetic labs for performing karyotyping and FISH as a part of
hospital services.
Plastination and preservation of cadaveric specimens in the department for future use.
Initiation of stem cell laboratory for the treatment of rare genetic disorders.
