Siglakas 2020 Proposal
I. RATIONALE
Article XIV, Section 19 of the Philippine Constitution States:
“The State shall promote physical education and encourage sports programs, leagues, league competitions, and
amateur sports, including training for international competitions, foster self-discipline, teamwork, and excellence for
the development of a healthy and alert citizenry.
Further, all educational institutions shall undertake regular sports activities throughout the country in cooperation with
athletic clubs and other sectors.”
A sport is a medium for positive values formation. Henceforth, considering that sport is part of the curriculum of the
tertiary education, it behooves upon the Davao Oriental State College of Science and Technology (DOSCST) to
harness the potential of its students and utilize its sports league as a vehicle for the promotion of the above-cited
values. In doing so, the institution shall play a vital role in the attainment of the goals and visions which the
institutional sports leaders, must set to achieve and shall serve as a catalyst of change.
II. OBJECTIVES:
1. Provide opportunities for officials to conceptualize, develop, organize and implement programs of sports which
will complement the other components of the curriculum aimed at developing higher levels of skill,
understanding, appreciation and knowledge, positive attitudes and values designed to develop the full potential
of the students;
2. Provide opportunities for coaches and trainers to discover identify and select students with competitive skills and
talents to join the national pool of athletes and talents and undergo further training in preparation for higher
national or international competition;
3. Promote the health and social benefits of sports in the DOSCST organization;
4. Enhance and develop women skills & participation on sports;
5. Provide opportunities to develop the character of excellence and apreciation of the Filipino culture, aesthetic
values, knowledge, understanding and socially desirable traits; and
6. Promote the culture of peace through the spirit of sportsmanship, camaraderie, fairplay and respect for others.

VI. EVALUATION
A terminal report shall be submitted to the office of the president upon completion of the said event. Copies will
be furnished to the different concerned offices for records purposes.
The Sports Development and Wellness Program would like to evaluate the conduct of activity.
