Aim of the experiment:
Confirmation of Ohm’s Law

Apparatus:
• Power supply
• Resistor
• Connecting Cables
• Multimeter

Diagram:

Procedure:
• You will be given 4 different resistors. First determine the
resistance of each resistor from the color codes by using
method defined in and write your results in table 1.
• Construct the ciruit shown in figure 1. by using ciruit
experimental board, DC power supply and one of the
resistors.
• Adjust the voltage of DC power supply to a suitable value
and keep it constant. Measure the current and the voltage by
using the suitable scale; write your results into table 1.
• Repeat step 3 for the other resistors.
• Choose one of the above resistors and connect the circuit
given in figure 1 again. This time for different input voltages,
measure the current flowing in the resistor and record the
measurements.
• Plot the graph voltages versus current. Calculate the
resistance from the graph.

Figure 1.
Equation:
I∝V
R=V/I
I=RV

Table:

Ref Voltage Current Resistance

(v) (v) (mA) (KΩ)

5 3.79 0.39 9.72

10 9.25 0.93 9.95

15 14.85 1.50 9.9

20 20.24 2.04 9.92

Graph:
Calculations:
Ref 5 = 3.79 / 0.39 = 9.7179 = 9.72
Ref 10 = 9.25 / 0.93 = 9.9462 = 9.95
Ref 15 = 14.85 / 1.50 = 9.9
Ref 20 = 20.24 / 2.04 = 9.9215 = 9.92

Results and Discussions:

Resistance is almost constant with small margin of error.

Conclusion:
Resistance is directly proportional to current.
