Introductory Message
Welcome to Agricultural Crops Production Grade 10!

The Learning Activity Sheet is a product of the collaborative efforts of the


Schools Division of Negros Occidental and DepEd Regional Office VI - Western Visayas
through the Curriculum and Learning Management Division (CLMD). This is developed
to guide the learning facilitators (teachers, parents and responsible adults) in helping the
learners meet the standards set by the K to 12 Basic Education Curriculum.

The Learning Activity Sheet is self-directed instructional materials aimed to guide


the learners in accomplishing activities at their own pace and time using the
contextualized resources in the community. This will also assist the learners in acquiring
the lifelong learning skills, knowledge and attitudes for productivity and employment.

For learning facilitator:

The Technology and Livelihood Education Activity Sheet will help you facilitate
the teaching-learning activities specified in each Most Essential Learning Competency
(MELC) with minimal or no face-to-face encounter between you and learner. This will be
made available to the learners with the references/links to ease the independent learning.

For the learner:

The Technology and Livelihood Education Activity Sheet is developed to help


you continue learning even if you are not in school. This learning material provides you
with meaningful and engaging activities for independent learning. Being an active learner,
carefully read and understand the instructions then perform the activities and answer the
assessments. This will be returned to your facilitator on the agreed schedule.

I. Learning Competency with Code

1. Maintain a clean and safe work site while undertaking irrigation activities
in accordance with OHS procedures.

II. Background Information for Learners

Ensuring the health and safety of people while undertaking irrigation activities is the
single most important concern of all workers.
Providing all necessary safety equipment to perform the required work - this
may include gloves, masks, ear protectors, goggles, protective clothing and footwear.
Maintaining a safe workplace for their employees and monitoring health and safety
issues. Equipment and machinery must be maintained and must conform to safety
standards. Providing well-lit and ventilated places to work. First aid must be provided
to all employees when and where necessary.
This covers employees when they are coming to and from work, provided the
accident is not self-inflicted or of a malicious or willful nature.
While at work, employees are required to take reasonable care for their own
safety and the safety of others who may be affected by their actions or omissions.
They must also cooperate with any actions taken by their employer to comply with the
Act and regulations.
Occupational safety and health (OSH) is a planned system of working to
prevent illness and injury where you work by recognizing and identifying hazards and
risks. Health and safety procedure is the responsibility of all persons in the irrigation
activities must identify the hazards where you are working and decide how dangerous
they are. Eliminate the hazard or modify the risk that it presents.
Personal protective clothing and equipment is a must in maintaining clean and
safe workplace!
