Title: Create Your Superhero

Objective: To design and present a unique superhero character with special powers and a
backstory.

Materials:

Drawing paper or cardstock


Coloured pencils, markers, or crayons
Writing paper and pens
Access to online superhero images for inspiration

Introduction:

Introduce the activity: Students will invent their superhero characters.


Discuss the concept of superheroes, their traits, their powers, and why they are often admired.

Brainstorming:

Encourage students to brainstorm their superhero's name, appearance, backstory, and powers.
Ask them to consider what makes a hero special or unique.

Character Design:

Students create their superhero characters visually on the drawing paper. They can draw their
superhero's costume, appearance, logo, and symbols.
Encourage them to be creative and use colours representing their hero's personality.

Writing Backstory:

On the writing paper, students write a short backstory or biography of their superhero. They can
describe the hero's origin, motivation, challenges, and powers.
Encourage creativity and storytelling.

Superhero Showcase:

Each student presents their superhero to the class. They can show their drawings and read
aloud their superhero's backstory.

Reflection (5 minutes):

Ask students to reflect on the process of creating their superhero.


What did they enjoy the most about designing their hero? What challenges did they face?
