2. Would you know another story similar to the theme of the story? What does the theme
of the story tell us?
Theme: Kindness will overcome insidiousness: Kindness and persistence
Cinderella claims will crush abhorrent soul of her stepmother and stepsisters
eventually. Envy and Jealousy: Her stepmother consistently feel envy with
Cinderella. It is appeared in the third section, that regardless of how
unbelievable and exquisite her stepsisters' garments are, they were as yet
ungainly, uneven, and monstrous, and consistently would be. In this way, that is the
reason Cinderella was allowed her stepsisters' recycled dresses by her mom to make
Cinderella looks ugly
3. Where do you think the story came from? Who originally wrote the story? Where do
you think the story is derived from?
The Cinderella that English speakers know and love can be traced to the French
story Cendrillon, first published in 1697 by Charles Perrault, though Chinese
and Greek versions of this classic tale go back to the 9th century CE and 6th
century BCE, respectively.
Brothers Grimm is the one who wrote the original story.
What are the commonalities and differences from the different versions of the story?
There are many different versions of the classic story, Cinderella. Grimm’s version
was just as wonderful, but had more twisted moments than Disney’s story. Both stories
are about a girl who overcomes the cruelty of her evil stepmother and stepsisters and
ends up living happily ever after. Although, there are many differences, there are
three that stand out. The three main differences are, the father died in Disney’s version
but did not die in Grimm’s version, there was no fairy godmother in Grimm's version
but there was in Disney's, and in the original version the stepsisters cut their heels
and toes off so it would fit in the slipper but in the Disney version they did not.
Similarities
Her name is Ella in both versions (but she has different nick names.)
Step-mother and step-sister still treat Cinderella like a peasant.
Loses her slipper (in the Grimm version it was gold, and the Disney it was glass.)
Prince will marry the woman who fits in the slipper
