INT. WHITE ROOM - TIME UNKNOWN
RUBIK'S CUBE 1
(heavy sigh) God... Everything is such
a mess, how do I even start this...
It's like I am unravelling.
RUBIK'S CUBE 2
(stoic) That's alright. Take as much
as you need, we have plenty of time
here.
RUBIK'S CUBE 1
(voice strained) It's as if my being,
my existence, is simply just one big
game, a game that is brutal, yet nice
enough to not give me the game over
screen.
RUBIK'S CUBE 1
(voice strained) I don't get this.
It's not like my life is a puzzle,
because at least in a puzzle, pieces
can fall together. In a game, it's my
skill level that matters. The more
skilled I am the better the outcome is
for me.
RUBIK'S CUBE 2
I understand, but think about it this
way - if you weren't skilled enough,
as you say you are, what does you
being here, speaking to me, imply? If
you weren't skilled enough at the game
of life, you wouldn't be here with me,
speaking to me. You would've gotten
the 'game over' screen a long time
ago, and I'm proud of you for still
being here.
RUBIK'S CUBE 1
(quietly) How do you do it?
RUBIK'S CUBE 2
(confused) Sorry?
RUBIK'S CUBE 1
(aggressively) How do you do it? How
do you keep it together? It's not
fair.
RUBIK'S CUBE 2
(calm) Appearances are not always so
accurate. Everyone has their
struggles, and you can't tell just
from looking at a person-
RUBIK'S CUBE 1
(voice breaking) You were supposed to
help me. You're the one who went to
school for this, right Doctor? This
whole therapy thing, was it all just a
lie?!
RUBIK'S CUBE 2
No, no it wasn't a lie, it was an
attempt to solve the both of us, but
you are not alone. I am still here. We
are in this together.
RUBIK'S CUBE 1
(angry) Goddamnit, Doctor! I've been
seeing you for how long now?! How do
you still not understand?! I, all of
me, need to be fixed, and I can't do
it alone. We weren't in this together,
because if that were the case, you
wouldn't of...
RUBIK'S CUBE 1
(voice breaking) I just... thought you
had it all figured out, you were
everything I wanted to be. I wanted to
be complete.
RUBIK'S CUBE 2
(somber) I wish I could say that I've
had it figured out, but the reality
is, nobody truly has it figured out.
RUBIK'S CUBE 1
(voice cracking angrily) Then what the
hell have you been doing?! What the
hell have I been doing?! And important
of all, what have we been doing?!
RUBIK'S CUBE 2
(somber) I guess I could say that me
helping you is hypocritical. At times,
those who guide need the guidance
themselves. I didn't have any other
solution.
RUBIK'S CUBE 1
(teary) But you were supposed to help
me find mine. You found the solution
that you yourself told me not to find.
What kind of bullcrap is that.
Camera faces Rubik's cube 2. The cube is silent, the air now
heavy.
RUBIK'S CUBE 2
(somber, voice cracking) I know. I
tried, I really did. The game was
overwhelming for me.
RUBIK'S CUBE 1
(teary) Do you regret it? Was there
anything I could've done?
RUBIK'S CUBE 2
I... don't know. I couldn't tell you,
because at the moment, everything felt
so.. empty, that it just seemed like
the best option. Perhaps I don't know
because unlike the rumours, I didn't
see my life flash before my eyes. I
saw nothing, just the white light
getting brighter and brighter with
every passing second. But, I think if
I were to see my family's face before
the decision, I would've not gone
through with it. And don't blame
yourself. There was nothing you
could've done, because this is between
me and my mind.
RUBIK'S CUBE 1
(somber and sniffling) What should I
do now? Where do I go from here?
RUBIK'S CUBE 2
Keep playing the game.
RUBIK'S CUBE 1
(confused) Huh?
RUBIK'S CUBE 2
Keep playing the game, regardless of
your skill level. In the end, it
doesn't matter. Nothing matters, but
anything that makes you feel
fulfillment in yourself matters. What
others think is unimportant, because
this is your life. Life is hard, I
can't sugarcoat it, but your own joy
is so much more valuable than this
feeling. Don't stop playing the game.
RUBIK'S CUBE 1
(somber) I'm gonna miss you, man. I
really am.
RUBIK'S CUBE 2
(chuckling) Well, I am not gone. As I
said before, I am always here.
The camera faces both Rubik's cubes, zooming out on them both
on the table silently. Quiet music starts playing and the
screen fades out.
