Resistance to temperature After 3 test cycles, coated surfaces shall be free of cracks, peeling, blisters, and
and humidity cycles discoloration; and there shall be no peeling after the adhesion test.

Notes:
(1) If coating is provided on the back of a molded part, results of all items shall be reported.
(2) This applies only to paint films. Product criteria shall be decided elsewhere via deliberation
among the parties concerned.
(3) Print shall be tested for wear resistance. Other coatings shall be tested for colorfastness to
dry rubbing.
(4) Peeling test shall be conducted twice for the same part.
(5) The Xenon method shall be used as a rule. If there is no testing device for the Xenon
method, it is permissible to use the carbon arc method instead.

4. Test Methods
Test specimens shall be cut out to the required size from the product prepared by the process
specified in accordance with the regular process. Alternatively, use test specimens prepared from
flat panel made of the same material and coated or printed by the same process as the product.
4.1 Appearance
Conduct a visual inspection.

4.2 Hardness
Follow Section 2.1 of TSH1539G. Test specimens shall be excluded from evaluation if their base
materials are broken.

4.3 Specular Gloss

Follow 60 specular gloss testing procedures in Section 3 of TSH1519G.

4.4 Adhesion
Follow Sections 2.1 and 2.2 of TSH1503G. If test piece size is not enough for crosscut test, the test
shall be conducted by X-cut. In that case, grade 8 or above shall be observed.

TOYOTA ENGINEERING STANDARD TSH3130G

4.5 Impact Resistance

Follow Section 2.1 of TSH1504G. Test specimens shall be excluded from evaluation if their base
materials are cracked.

4.6 Print Resistance

Follow Section 2.1 of TSH1501G.

4.7 Adhesion in Humid Condition

Leave test specimens for 240 h in a humid chamber conditioned to 50 1 and 95% RH.
Immediately (within 10 min) after retrieving the test specimens from the humid chamber, carry out the
adhesion test specified in Section 4.4 at room temperature. In the case of water-transfer-printed
parts, conduct the test within 1 h, and determine those causing no abnormalities as acceptable.

4.8 Water Discoloration Resistance

Follow Section 2.1.1 of TSH1509G.

4.9 Alkali Discoloration Resistance

Follow Section 2.1.2 of TSH1509G.

4.10 Acid Discoloration Resistance

Follow Section 2.1.3 of TSH1509G.

4.11 Volatile Solvent Resistance

Follow Section 2.1.2 of TSH1508G. Note however that the reagent shall be No. 1 reagent.

4.12 Glass Haze

Follow TSH1564G. The test shall be conducted either by the method A or B.

4.13 Colorfastness to Dry Rubbing

Conduct the test by using the color fastness rubbing tester specified in TSH1513G. The friction head
stroke shall be 100 mm, and five sheets of gauze (conforming to the pharmacopoeia) shall be laid on
the friction head's contact surface. The friction head shall be moved back and forth 200 times under
a pressure of 49 kPa.

4.14 Wear Resistance

Bore a hole approximately 7 mm in diameter at the center of a 100 100 mm test specimen (t = 3
mm min.). Attach it to a Taber abrader as specified in Section 4.6 of TSL2105G. Carry out a
rotational wear test using the CS#10 abrasion disk(6) under a load of 4.9 N. Determine the number of
abrasion cycles at which the plastic surface is exposed due to wear and/or peeling.
Note (6): The abrasion disk used for the test shall be ground twice in advance, each time undergoing
50 times of rubbing with S-11 sandpaper under the test load. The disk shall also be treated
by another cycle of grinding every 500 times of testing. The S-11 sandpaper shall be
renewed after it is used for 50 times of rubbing.

NOTES: The recipient of this standard shall undertake the following confidentiality obligations upon the receipt of this standard.
- The recipient shall discard by shredding or fire, or return to Toyota Motor Corporation if appropriate, the documents contained in this standard when they Rev. 9
