Chemicals’ mixing is the first step in pest control where its main aim is to dilute the concentrated form
into a less concentrated one according to the specified label in order to reach the final desired dosage.

Safely Chemicals’ Mixing Steps:

1. Choose a suitable place for mixing chemicals; usually PMPs will ask the client on areas where
mixing will never affect or damage the area, health of residents or pets. In general mixing
chemicals will take place in the same area where the delivered tools and equipment can be placed,
far from food sources, fish aquariums, pets resting areas and cages, etc. Whenever possible, the
mixing should be conducted in the outside area.
2. Wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) before proceeding with any further step.
The required PPE are:
● Half face mask
● Disposable latex gloves
● Adequate protective clothes (long pants and sleeves)
● Safety shoes
3. Refer to the label in order to identify the needed concentration and diluent’s volume.
4. Use a measuring cup (or the pesticide’s container if it is already equipped with a measuring cup)
to have accurate volumes.
(When using a measuring cup, PMPs are asked to fill the cup to the appropriate line, place it on a
level surface, and read it with their eye at the level of the liquid).

General Safety Rules During Mixing:

1. Never eat, drink or smoke during mixing.

2. Keep the chemicals in their original containers far from foodstuffs and out of reach of children
and non-targeted pets.
3. Avoid hand contact with exposed skin.
4. Replace broken gloves if mixing is still in process
