MATERIALS FINISHING
Yarn needle, Sewing thread, Zipper approx. 8in. Holding RS together, sew around 3 sides of your pencil case and turn so
that RS are now facing out. Sew in zipper using strong thread.

Make 2 pieces for each pencil case following colour sequence.

Ch 41
Row 1: (WS) 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook, 1 sc in each ch across, turn – 40sc
Row 2: (RS) Ch 1 (does not count as a st), 1 sc in each st across, turn – 40sc
Row 3: Ch 1, * 1 sc in next 3 sts, 1 spike st in next st; rep from * across, turn.
Row 4: Ch 1, 1 sc in each st across, turn.
Row 5: Ch 1, 1 sc in next 2 sts, * 1 spike st in next st,1 sc in next 3 sts; rep
from * across to last 2 sts, 1 spike st in next st, 1 sc in last st, turn.
Row 6: Ch 1, 1 sc in each st across, turn.
Row 7: Ch 1, 1 sc in first st, * 1 spike st in next st,1 sc in next 3 sts; rep from
* across to last 3 sts, 1 spike st in next st, 1 sc in last 2 sts, turn.
Row 8: Ch 1, 1 sc in each st across, turn.
Row 9: Ch 1, * 1 spike st in next st, 1 sc in next 3 sts; rep from * across, turn.
Row 10: Ch 1, 1 sc in each st across, turn.
Rows 11 - 26: Repeat rows 3 - 10 two more times. Fasten off and weave
in all threads.
