Honestly, a pattern master is the only ruler

I use to pattern cut with. A Pattern Master
is essentially a ruler, a French curve, and a
set square all rolled into one.

This inner curve a french curve which I use

to draw out necklines & armholes.

You can also use these lines to draw out

the seam allowance around your pattern.

MANNEQUINS & SEWING MACHINES
Mannequins
This beginner dress form is the one I
used my entire time at fashion school,
and I still have this one. The mannequin
is made out of foam, and this is great if
you're just getting started with draping
as you can freely pin on the mannequin.

Beginner Mannequin

Adjustable mannequins are great if you're

going to be making garments in different
sizes when working with various clients etc.
This is the one I use when I do client work.

Note: You can buy a mannequin cover to

drape over the adjustable mannequin

Adjustable Mannequin

Getting a professional mannequin is an

amazing investment especially if you
are planning to start up a brand. It's
good for durability, accuracy & being
able to drape more complicated
designs on the stand.

This is where I purchased mine:

and is amazing for draping as you can
easily pin on the mannequin.

They provide a smaller and more

manageable size for making prototypes
or patterns. It's very useful to practice
draping and different styles on the
stand without using a lot of fabric.
