CREATIVE ARTS AND FASHION
WorldSkills International, by a resolution of the Technical Committee and in accordance with the Constitution,
the Standing Orders and the Competition Rules, has adopted the following minimum requirements for this skill
for the WorldSkills Competition.

The individual needs to know and understand:
How to read and create specialist technical drawings
Specialist industry-related terminology and symbols
The use of IT and specialist software to produce images and designs
4.4 ASPECTS
Each Aspect defines, in detail, a single item to be assessed and marked together with the marks, or
instructions for how the marks are to be awarded. Aspects are assessed either objectively or
subjectively and appear on the appropriate marking form.
The marking form lists, in detail, every Aspect to be marked together with the mark allocated to it and
a reference to the section of the skill as set out in the Standards Specification.
The sum of the marks allocated to each Aspect must fall within the range of marks specified for that
section of the skill in the Standards Specification. This will be displayed in the Mark Allocation Table of
the CIS, in the following format, when the Marking Scheme is reviewed from C-8 weeks. (Section 4.1)

Criterion B – Patternmaking
Experts will assess the following aspects both subjectively and objectively:
Interpretation of the Design (shape and proportion reflect the drawing);
Accurate measurement;
Flat pattern making or draping;
Pattern accuracy/flow through;
Pattern information (grain line, cutting instructions, notches, etc.).
Criterion C – Construction
Experts will assess the following aspects both subjectively and objectively:
Lay-out and cutting;
Measurements;
All stitching (seams, matching of junctions, facings, hems, linings, etc.);
Hand sewing and handling of trims;
Overall quality of construction.
Criterion D – Appearance
Experts will assess the following aspects both subjectively:
General pressing;
Drape and shape of the garment;
Quality of the finished garment.
TIME ACTIVITY
16 months prior to the Competition Test Project proposals are uploaded to the
Discussion Forum. Test Project proposals are
uploaded to the Discussion Forum for
consideration and voting by the Experts
Nine (9) months prior to the Competition Discussions regarding the proposals finish, and a
vote to select the Test Project is conducted
Six (6) months prior to the Competition The Test Project is circulated on the WSI website
At the Competition 30% change is agreed to by the Experts (vote)
Note: Proposal approved by Experts - shared over locker machines one per two Competitors.
