Dear Parents and Guardians,

Welcome to the 2021-2022 year of 7th grade Physical Education at Knoxville Junior High! I am excited to
begin a new year and I look forward to getting to know you and your child this year. This is my first year
teaching at Knoxville Junior High and I am excited to be a part of this school and community.

Teacher and Classroom Expectations:


 NO CELL PHONE – Phones should be kept in student’s locker or in my office.
 Show respect for classmates and teachers
 Work cooperatively with classmates
 No put downs, negative comments, or excessive trash talk
 Demonstrate fair play and, polite behavior
 HAVE FUN

If a student chooses to ignore an expectation:


● First Consequence: Verbal warning.
● Second Consequence: Thinking time (student will sit apart from group for 5-10 minutes)
● Third Consequence: Student loses privilege (such as: sitting with group, recess, etc.)
● Severity Clause: Office visit (if student chooses to fight or break multiple rules)

Attire/Dress Code
Students are expected to arrive to class, on time, wearing appropriate athletic attire. This includes Athletic gym
shoes (Not the same shoes you wore to school), athletic shorts or athletic sweatpants, T Shirt, sweatshirt, or
long sleeve T shirt. Any hanging Jewelry, necklace or wristbands need to be removed and kept in your locker
during class.

Grading
Students will receive a daily PE grade up to 20 points per class and 5 points for their weekly homework
assignment.
- 10 points for wearing appropriate gym attire.
- 5 points for warm up/fitness
o Warm-up includes activates to increase your heart rate. It may include jogging or dynamic
stretching.
- 5 points for activity/class participation.
o Activity is assessed on the use of appropriate rules of the activity or game.
o Demonstrating proper skill and strategies, display of effort, teamwork, safety, and
sportsmanship.
- 5 points for weekly homework.

Homework
Homework will be due by 11:59pm every Sunday and can be uploaded to your students, “Student Portal”
under the Physical Education tab. The assignment will always be 2-3 paragraphs on anything related to health,
sports, or a current event. This can be about an article they read about the benefits of running or a sporting
event they played in or a game they watched on TV.

I look forward to having a fun and productive school year and I am excited to meet you all but more
