Step 4: Final draft (full text)

Good afternoon, classmates! Standing before you this afternoon is a girl with dreams and ambitions like
everyone else in this classroom. I encourage you to Dream big and aim high because the sky is the limit.

It may sound funny that I am to share a topic about dreams in front of you and then say, "Dream big and aim
high." when I myself feel doubtful and unsure about my words.

It's hard to be optimistic about something when you are uncertain. It feels like walking on a foggy path without
a compass or a map. You wonder, will there be a step that will make me stumble? Am I going to meet
someone along the way? What if I take the wrong turn? Of course, we have parents or guardians to guide us,
but what happens if we reach the point where we have to go on our own? Can we still get to our dreams?
They seem too high to reach. Do these voices sound familiar to you?

Fear kills more dreams than failure ever will, a quote by Suzy Kassem. But do you know what causes us to
still dream despite these fears or voices consuming us? Hope. As we dream, we harvest hope and
determination to reach our dreams. We also have curiosity and desire to answer those "What ifs?" in our lives.
We want to unlock those mysteries to avoid regret in the future. Indeed, we still feel fear when we try to aim
for something that is not certain in our lives. It is normal. Fear protects us from harm. It is human nature that
we feel fear. But this should not hold us back from reaching our dreams.

Take leaps of faith and see how it goes. Have a growth mindset that if you fail, it is an opportunity to grow. Of
course, you should also think before you leap because some paths in life can't be easily corrected or erased.
We should think carefully if these decisions will lead us to our dreams and if they will mold us to become a
better person. Avoid the temptation to do the wrong things just so that you can achieve your dreams. It is
better to take the path that will benefit you in the long run rather than take a shortcut and experience the
benefits temporarily.
Some of us dream of becoming a doctor, an engineer, an architect, a pilot, or maybe even an artist. Some of
our dreams are to provide for our parents, have a family in the future, own a car, or possibly own a huge
house. As present students, most of us dream of graduating and having good grades. That hope,
determination, curiosity, and desire will help us persevere in those dreams we aspire to.

As we continue to take this foggy path we all have, let us not let fear consume us. We should consider every
leap of faith so that we can grow and learn from it. Use that hope and fire to fight to reach that dream.
Remember, we shape and create our paths toward our dreams. That is all for my speech. Thank you.
